New to Grow
I am Allogan Hess, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) dedicated to supporting individuals, couples, and families in navigating life’s challenges. I take a collaborative, compassionate approach, helping clients build practical skills, improve communication, and create meaningful change. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal growth.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In your first session with me, we’ll focus on getting to know you and understanding the challenges you’re facing. I’ll ask about your goals, current concerns, and any patterns you’d like to change, while also explaining my approach and how we can work together. Together, we’ll start identifying practical strategies and small steps you can take, creating a foundation for progress in future sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is that it is practical, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I integrate evidence-based methods like CBT, REBT, ERP, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients challenge unhelpful patterns, build coping skills, and achieve measurable progress. Clients often notice that our work leads to tangible changes in their thinking, behaviors, and relationships, helping them feel more empowered and in control of their lives.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to work with clients who are motivated to make meaningful changes in their lives and are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work well with individuals, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or patterns that feel stuck or unhelpful. My approach is practical and goal-focused, helping clients develop strategies to manage challenges, improve communication, and create positive, lasting change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a structured, goal-oriented approach to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that influence their emotions and behaviors. In my practice, I collaborate with clients to build awareness of cognitive distortions, develop practical coping strategies, and practice new skills between sessions through homework and real-life application. I integrate psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, and behavioral experiments to support lasting change while tailoring interventions to each client’s needs, strengths, and treatment goals.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify their strengths, clarify goals, and focus on practical solutions rather than problems. In sessions, I guide clients to notice exceptions, build on what is already working, and take small, achievable steps toward change. My approach emphasizes collaboration, future-focused questions, and empowering clients to create meaningful progress in a short period of time.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help clients gradually face feared thoughts, situations, or sensations while reducing compulsive or avoidance behaviors that maintain anxiety. In my practice, I collaborate with clients to create a structured exposure hierarchy, practice tolerating discomfort in a supportive way, and build confidence through repeated, planned exposures. My approach emphasizes psychoeducation, skill-building, and pacing the work to ensure exposures feel challenging yet manageable.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
I incorporate Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) by helping clients identify and challenge irrational beliefs that contribute to emotional distress and unhelpful behaviors. In my practice, I guide clients to examine the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and actions, and replace rigid or self-defeating beliefs with more rational, flexible alternatives. I also use practical exercises and real-life applications to reinforce these new ways of thinking, empowering clients to respond to challenges more effectively.
