Hello, my name is LaTisha, professionally known as "TishatheTherapist." As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider (LPC, MHSP), I am committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for women to explore their emotions. As a women's mental health specialist, my practice is founded on three core principles: a secure environment for sharing personal experiences, practical education for empowerment, and compassionate support to navigate challenging situations.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, clients can look forward to a safe, judgment-free space to build trust. I'll ask open questions to explore why they're seeking therapy and what they hope to achieve. They're in control of what they share and can go at their own pace.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic approach emphasizes active listening, enabling me to comprehensively understand my clients' concerns and needs. This allows me to tailor strategies, fostering a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard and empowered to achieve their goals effectively.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve women by focusing on specific life stages, challenges, and goals that women commonly face. This includes supporting women through transitions, relationship issues, career aspirations, and enhancing self-esteem and emotional well-being.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help women change unhealthy thinking patterns and behaviors to improve their mental and physical well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

I help women feel empowered and motivated to make positive changes through supportive therapy.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I help women become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and body, and I support them in accepting their experiences without judgment.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I help women address emotional dysregulation, often post-trauma, by teaching skills like mindfulness and emotion regulation to replace self-destructive behaviors with healthier coping strategies.

Grief Therapy

Within the framework of grief therapy, I provide support to clients experiencing complex and perplexing losses, including those related to abusive relationships or the loss of loved ones. For individuals recovering from narcissistic abuse, my approach centers on identifying manipulative tactics such as gaslighting, facilitating the establishment of healthy boundaries, and promoting the development of self-assurance. When working with survivors of domestic violence, I employ a trauma-informed methodology, emphasizing safety, anxiety reduction, and PTSD management. I assist clients in effectively processing a range of emotions, including anger, guilt, and sadness, without becoming stagnant. We collaboratively explore both the constructive and detrimental aspects of interpersonal relationships to facilitate emotional processing. I empower women to cultivate self-esteem, discover their authentic identities, and acquire coping mechanisms, such as grounding techniques and boundary-setting. Education regarding cycles of abuse or stages of grief is provided to mitigate self-blame. Through therapy, clients are supported in reconnecting with life by setting future-oriented goals, all within a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.
