Are you a parent worried about your child’s anxiety, big emotions, or past stressful experiences? Or are you an adult looking for trauma-informed therapy in Spanish or English? I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), NCC, and EMDR-trained therapist who works with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in supporting parents and children using child-friendly EMDR and virtual play therapy, as well as providing EMDR therapy in Spanish and English for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR, CBT, ACT, and creative interventions such as art and play to help clients feel safer, more regulated, and more confident as they move forward.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we’ll focus on creating a safe and supportive space where you or your child can feel comfortable. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and what support would feel most helpful right now. For parents, this session also includes understanding your child’s needs and how we can work together to support them. For adults, we’ll explore concerns at your pace and discuss whether EMDR or another approach feels like the best fit. You’ll leave the session with clarity, validation, and a clear sense of next steps.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths are my ability to create emotional safety, adapt therapy to each client’s developmental and cultural needs, and help clients make sense of what they’re experiencing. I use evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, CBT, and ACT, along with creative interventions like play and art, especially helpful for children or clients who find traditional talk therapy difficult. I work collaboratively with parents and offer guidance they can use outside of sessions. I also provide therapy in both English and Spanish and can incorporate faith-based counseling when desired. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, supported, and equipped with tools they can use in everyday life.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to support parents and children navigating anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation challenges, and school-related stress, including concerns related to autism and ADHD. I also work with Spanish-speaking and bilingual adults seeking EMDR therapy for trauma, anxiety, grief, immigration-related stress, and life transitions. I am a good fit for clients who are looking for a compassionate, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approach, and who want both emotional healing and practical tools in a supportive, collaborative environment.
EMDR
I am EMDR-trained and use this approach with children, adolescents, and adults to help process trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. Before beginning EMDR, I carefully assess each client’s readiness, including screening for dissociation, and spend time building grounding, regulation, and stabilization skills. This ensures clients feel safe, supported, and prepared before moving into trauma processing. EMDR is always paced collaboratively, with a focus on emotional safety, empowerment, and lasting healing. Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I use CBT to support clients in identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing practical strategies to cope with anxiety, stress, and emotional challenges. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and provides tools that can be practiced outside of sessions, making it especially helpful for children, adolescents, and adults who want clear guidance and skills they can use in everyday life.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions. ACT focuses on building skills to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional pain while staying connected to personal values and what matters most. Rather than trying to “get rid of” thoughts or feelings, ACT helps clients respond to them with greater flexibility, self-compassion, and confidence. This approach is helpful for both adults and children who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their goals.
Play Therapy
I have experience using play therapy with children to help them express emotions, process experiences, and build coping skills in a developmentally appropriate way. I also successfully adapt play therapy for virtual sessions by incorporating interactive games, creative activities, art, storytelling, and movement-based interventions. Even in a telehealth setting, play therapy remains effective and engaging, allowing children to feel safe, connected, and supported while developing emotional regulation, communication skills, and resilience.
Adlerian
Adlerian therapy focuses on understanding a person within the context of their relationships, family, culture, and life experiences. This approach helps clients explore patterns developed early in life and how these patterns may be influencing current emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Adlerian therapy emphasizes strengths, belonging, and purpose, and supports clients in building confidence, resilience, and healthier ways of connecting with others. This approach is especially helpful for children, parents, and adults navigating family dynamics, identity development, and life transitions.
