My name is Sarah Landers. In my personal life I have may hats, but in my role as your potential therapist I am here to help you reach your mental health goals. I value creating a space where you feel you can share openly and without judgement. My goal for you in therapy with me is to see you grow. I will help teach you coping skills and ways to change behaviors or thoughts as needed. I will listen to any stressors or problems that you need to share. I can also assist you through any hardships or traumas in our past that might have hung around longer than you'd like. I have years of experience working in various levels of our mental health system to help you with your needs on multiple levels.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be about establishing that therapeutic relationship together and setting goals. I will have to provide some basic education on things like confidentiality just to make sure you know/understand what to expect. Otherwise, I want to learn about you. I will engage you in conversation about your day to day life, what strengths you might have or things you enjoy, where your struggles are, reasons for coming to therapy, and what you want to get out of therapy. We will also discuss how often we both feel therapy should happen for you and what barriers might be in the way (if any).

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Most my clients comment on their ability to share and feel comfortable sharing with me and feeling like I will be honest with them in my feedback. I pride myself in trying to provide a non-judgmental space for you to share and offer validation as needed. I also will help reframe thoughts for you and teach you skills.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with anyone who wants to change and see growth within themselves. Understanding that if you really want to see growth, there is often things you will have to practice outside of session either mentally or physically. I want your honest feedback on if something does or does not work for you, and if you are even wanting or willing to try it. That feedback could include the motivation being there but the follow-through not. I know life happens and things are sometimes harder than expected. Therapy is all about the relationship between you and your therapist, so your comfort to share and grow has to be the primary piece (even if that means I am not the right fit for you).

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am highly trained in the DBT model for therapy. I utilize it's language and skills frequently especially when teaching clients how to manage distressful moments or regulate their emotions. I do not provide traditional DBT as I only provide the individual therapy part of the model.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to help with changing thought patterns and healing from trauma (Trauma Focused-CBT). Reframing thoughts and stopping negative thoughts can do a lot to help grow our mental health.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize Solution Focused therapy when clients are needing assistance with problem solving and looking into their different options. This is a more short based approach and usually is mixed in with other treatment models unless the client is only wanting or needing that short term help.

Christian Counseling

I utilize Christian Counseling methods only when desired by the client. I am open to working with any faith or beliefs practices. I only incorporate those systems when it is the client's desire.
