LMHC, 25 years of experience
New to Grow
I have worked in the mental health field and have helped many clients. My career path spans over 25 years and includes working in various positions. I was a Lifeguard Lieutenant for Miami Dade Ocean Rescue, a Middle School Guidance Counselor, Mental Health Counselor for the Broward Detention Center and two local hospitals - Ft. Lauderdale Hospital and Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. I derive my success from my years of experience and ability to impart on my clients the tools they need to effect the changes they so desire.
I will want to learn about their background and what brought them into treatment. I believe in showing respect and kindness to my clients. I want to encourage them to feel comfortable, safe and confident to address their mental health issues.
I have developed the skills to provide effective counseling with a calm and empathic approach to solving problems. Over the years I have worked with families, couples and individuals - providing them with various techniques to help overcome their issues and help to restore stability and harmony.
My ideal client is committed and willing to work towards changing their current life situation. My client has difficulty coping with family issues or workplace issues or substance abuse. My client is unhappy and is looking for help to change how they feel about themselves. I would promote a sense of meaning and accomplishment, by helping my client to set healthy patterns of behavior. I would guide my client to work on positive emotions and gain valuable insight to set new goals that would defeat unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help my clients see how their thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. Once they notice the patterns, I can begin to work with my client on shifting unhelpful thoughts so they can make better choices and feel more in control.”
I use this therapy as it helps clients to focus on what’s working instead of just what’s wrong. We’ll look at your strengths, times when things have gone better, and small steps you can take to move forward. The idea is to help you feel more hopeful and confident about making changes.
