About me

I’m Dr. Hatuel. I have 15 years of experience in the mental health field. My areas of expertise include individual psychotherapy with a wide range of mental health challenge's, couples counseling, and adolescent treatment. I’ve worked with diverse populations and feel confident supporting clients with a variety of mental health concerns. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to the unique needs of each person. I integrate evidence-based techniques drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients develop insight, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my goal is to create a warm, open, and welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I view the first meeting as an opportunity for us to get to know one another, discuss what brings you to therapy, and explore what you hope to gain from our work together. I provide opportunity for any questions you may have for me and I am very open. There’s no pressure to share everything right away — we’ll take our time as we work together. I would rather you feel comfortable. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, and current challenges, and I’ll also explain how therapy works and answer any questions you might have. Most importantly, the first session is about beginning to build a foundation of trust and safety, so we can work collaboratively toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic method is its flexibility and individualized approach. I draw from a variety of evidence-based models to meet each client’s unique needs, expectations, and goals. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor our work together based on what feels most comfortable and effective for you. This allows therapy to remain collaborative, dynamic, and responsive to your growth over time.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to work with individuals, couples, and adolescents who are motivated to understand themselves more deeply and make meaningful changes in their lives. Many of my clients come to therapy seeking relief from anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or life transitions, but also a greater sense of balance and purpose. I work especially well with clients who are open to exploring their emotions, patterns, and relationships, and who are ready to take an active role in their healing process. Whether you are feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, I offer a supportive space to help you build clarity, confidence, and lasting emotional growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients in identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. My training has included both formal coursework and supervised clinical practice, allowing me to apply CBT principles across a range of presenting issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, stress management, and adjustment difficulties. In my practice, I integrate CBT by helping clients increase awareness of the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I typically begin by collaboratively developing a case formulation, identifying core beliefs and automatic thoughts that maintain the client’s difficulties.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have developed a solid foundation in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through both formal training and clinical application. My experience includes working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related difficulties. I’m drawn to ACT’s focus on psychological flexibility — helping clients build a more adaptive relationship with their thoughts and emotions rather than trying to eliminate them. In my practice, I use ACT to help clients clarify what truly matters to them and take meaningful action aligned with their values, even in the presence of difficult internal experiences. I integrate ACT’s six core processes throughout therapy.

Couples Counseling

I have experience providing couples counseling to partners seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. My training has included coursework and supervised clinical experience focused on relationship dynamics, attachment theory, and evidence-based interventions for couples. I’ve worked with couples facing challenges such as recurring conflict, infidelity, life transitions, and difficulties balancing individual and relational needs. In my practice, I view the couple — rather than either partner individually — as the client system. My approach is grounded in a systemic and attachment-based perspective, helping partners understand the patterns that maintain distress and develop new ways of relating that promote closeness and understanding.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with clients who struggle with emotion regulation, impulsivity, interpersonal difficulties, and self-harming behaviors. My training has included both formal instruction and supervised clinical practice, allowing me to apply DBT principles in both individual and group settings. I appreciate DBT’s balance between acceptance and change, as well as its structured, skills-based approach that empowers clients to build a life worth living. In my practice, I integrate DBT by focusing on skill development, mindfulness, and emotional regulation while maintaining a validating and supportive therapeutic stance. I often begin by collaboratively identifying the client’s treatment goals and providing psychoeducation about the DBT framework. I use the four core DBT skill modules to guide intervention.

Eclectic

In practice, I begin by developing a comprehensive understanding of the client’s concerns, goals, cultural background, and coping resources. From there, I tailor interventions to fit the individual or couple, integrating methods that align best with their needs and readiness for change.
