New to Grow
Hello! I truly believe that every single one of us has a powerful story to share. As Dr. Iyanla Vanzant reminds us, “It’s important that we share our experiences with other people. Your story will heal you and your story will heal somebody else. When you tell your story, you free yourself and give other people permission to acknowledge their own story.” I am passionate about connecting with people and discovering the richness of who they are—the good, the bad, and the beautifully complex. Looking forward to meeting you!
During our initial session, we will take care of important housekeeping matters such as confidentiality, session frequency, and duration, ensuring you feel secure and informed from the very start. After that, we move into the engaging part: through brief introductions, we’ll begin to establish trust and connection. I am eager to learn about the specific challenges you are facing, and together, we will craft a plan rooted in your aspirations and goals. Please know this session is a safe and welcoming space, where you are encouraged to share at your own pace. Our conversation will focus on what matters most to you, setting the stage for meaningful progress in the sessions ahead.
My journey of supporting and counseling spans from my youth ministry days with spirited middle schoolers to walking alongside individuals and families in hospice care. I am eager to connect and help you live your most authentic and fulfilling life. Let’s take this journey together and see how your story can inspire not only yourself but those around you.
I provide a supportive and understanding environment for individuals who are ready to openly discuss life’s challenges—whether those include anxiety, depression, parenting, career concerns, or relationship issues. Together, we will identify meaningful opportunities and outline practical next steps to strengthen your coping skills and advance toward your personal hopes and goals. My aim is to empower you with the resources and strategies needed to live with greater confidence and resilience. Let us work collaboratively to help you embrace life with boldness and renewed purpose.
In my journey of providing hospice care I learned that grief is not something we "get over," but something we learn to live with- gently, honestly and at our own pace. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can bring your feelings of loss no matter how heavy they feel. Together, we will learn to honor your grief while also exploring how to carry it in a way that allows you to live with a renewed purpose. My approach is compassionate and collaborative, helping you adjust to a new chapter while still holding close the love and memories that remain. Healing is possible and you do not have to walk this path alone.
This approach is all about helping you focus on your strengths, resources and the steps that can move you toward the life you want. Rather than spending all our time on what feels broken, we'll explore what's already working, what gives you hope and what small changes can create meaningful shifts. Together we'll look at your goals and identify practical, realistic steps that bring you closer to them. We'll tap into your resilience and discover solutions that feel authentic and sustainable to your unique journey.
In my practice, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), approach to help us understand how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. Sometimes the way we think about ourselves, others or a situation can keep us feeling stuck in patterns of stress, sadness, or worry. Through CBT, we'll work together to notice these patterns, challenge the ones that no longer serve you and practice new ways of thinking and responding. My goal is to help you feel more in control of your thoughts and emotions, so you can approach life with greater clarity, balance, and confidence.
I believe that who you are- your culture, values, traditions, and lived experiences- matters deeply in the healing process. Culturally sensitive therapy means creating a space where every part of your identity is welcomed, respected and honored. I understand that our backgrounds shape the way we experience life, relationships, and even grief or stress. In therapy, we will explore your unique story through a lens that values your culture and strengths it brings. This approach ensures you feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow in a way that reflects your values and your journey.
I often use Motivational Interviewing (MI), a collaborative approach that helps you tap into your own motivation for change. Many of us know that we'd like to improve in our lives, but taking those first steps can feel overwhelming. MI is about exploring your hopes, strengths, and values, and then using them as a guide to move forward at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we'll turn your goals into small, achievable steps that feel empowering and sustainable. This approach is compassionate, nonjudgemental, and rooted in the belief that YOU are the expert on our own life- I'm here to support and encourage your journey.
