Sometimes life just gets really hard, and we simply cannot find any joy or peace. Please know I am someone who will help you look for the joy or at least a "glimmer" but I am also a safe zone and will hold space for you to share whatever it is and listen without judgement. Most times, we just need our voice to be heard and understood. I have experience working with men, women and older adults. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C), I am trained in lots of "therapeutic modalities" so I am skilled and will help you with your anxiety, depression, anger, stress, coping, life transitions, grief - you name it. However, I will always remember that you are human being - a beautiful human who is deserving of feeling good, confident & competent and having a sense of purpose and finding where you belong. I will share my knowledge & skills, be direct and hold you accountable as needed and will walk on this part of your journey with you. You only need to show up. We will figure out the rest together!

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with introductions, then I will listen while you tell me what you are looking for. If you are not sure, I will explore a bit. Next, we will address any questions, concerns, hesitations you may have. Finally, I will explain the process and ask a few questions so I can get to know you a bit better and together we will come up with a plan for our follow-up sessions.

I have been practicing for 18 years so I am confident in my ability to instill hope and work through an individual's challenges - whether that be your relationships, your job, your passions or your purpose.

Dr. Smith was very welcoming and very easy to talk with! She listened to me and didn’t dismiss valid points I made about me not knowing who I was at my age because of so much life I have been forced to live in helping so many but me! I have seen numerous therapists and none of them were ever a good fit. That changed when I started meeting with Katherine in January. I love how in our first session, she asked me what kind of things that I needed from a therapist to ensure that we were a good fit. She is very empathetic but also direct when I need it. I really appreciate that when I am having a difficult time, she will ask me what I need from her to help me feel supported. She has played a major role in my healing journey.

This treatment is used to help improve your depression symptoms and how you respond to the world around you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

You can see meaningful change quickly with improved self-esteem by focusing on building on your strengths. Can't see a strength at the moment - do not worry you have many and we will identify them together.

Narrative

We are the storytellers of our lives. This treatment will help you take back control of your life and improve your relationship with yourself and others.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This therapy helps you learn how to regulate your emotions. You will see meaningful change and reduced anxiety, depression, trauma and stress symptoms. It also helps to increase your feelings of self-worth and self-esteem.
