My name is Shenequa Williams, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LCDAC). I believe that everyone has the capacity to live a happy, meaningful, and fulfilling life. My approach is grounded in the understanding that mental and emotional well-being are essential to overall health and quality of life. I view therapy as a collaborative and empowering process—one that supports self-awareness, resilience, and lasting change. By creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space, I help clients work toward balance, healing, and personal growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Therapy works best when you feel comfortable and supported. I take a collaborative approach, working with you to understand what you’re hoping to change and how we can get there together. Our first session is a chance to get to know one another, talk through what’s been weighing on you, and begin creating a plan that feels right for you moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With years of experience in the field, I have developed strong skills in helping clients identify the root of their concerns and gain deeper insight into their inner experiences. Together, we work to build healthier coping strategies, increase self-understanding, and create meaningful, lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I provide individual, family, and couples therapy for those seeking greater clarity, balance, and a more positive outlook on life. I take an integrative approach to treatment, thoughtfully combining evidence-based and insight-oriented therapies to meet each client’s unique needs. My work may incorporate person-centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing, PREPARE/ENRICH, strengths-based and psychodynamic approaches, CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-focused care, and mindfulness-based techniques. This flexible, personalized approach allows therapy to be tailored to your goals, experiences, and stage of healing. I work with individuals, families, and couples who want to better understand themselves, improve relationships, and gain a healthier perspective on life. Because no two people are the same, I tailor therapy using a variety of approaches always focusing on what will best support your growth, healing, and goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

If you feel stuck in negative thought patterns or overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or low mood, CBT can help. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts affect their emotions and behaviors and how small, intentional changes can lead to real relief. My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on helping you feel more confident, capable, and in control of your life.

EMDR

If past experiences are still affecting how you feel, think, or react, EMDR therapy may help. I use EMDR to support clients in safely processing traumatic or distressing memories so they no longer feel stuck in the past. Many people experience relief from anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and emotional distress, and gain a greater sense of clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

Motivational Interviewing

If part of you wants change but another part feels hesitant or unsure, Motivational Interviewing can help. I use MI to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your goals, build motivation, and move forward with greater confidence and clarity without pressure or shame.

Couples Counseling

Relationships can feel challenging—even when there’s still love and commitment. In couples counseling, I help partners improve communication, rebuild connection, and better understand each other’s needs. Using structured, research-based tools like PREPARE/ENRICH, we focus on strengthening your relationship’s foundation so you can move forward together with greater clarity, trust, and confidence.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

If your emotions feel intense or hard to manage, you’re not alone and support is available. I use DBT to help clients develop skills to cope with stress, navigate relationships, and respond to challenges with greater balance and confidence. This structured, supportive approach can help you feel more in control and build a life that feels worth living.
