Welcome, I'm Leandra. Whether you're dealing with depression, job and/or school stress, burnout, low self-esteem, substance abuse, or relationship issues, I'm here to help. Do you keep repeating the same behavior even though you truly desire and know what it takes to change? Are you struggling to figure out or work towards your purpose? Do you feel like it's challenging to make decisions? Is it difficult to support yourself the way you would your friends and family? I can help you gain insight into your behavior and identify your strengths and values to better guide you through the next steps in life. Together, we can figure out how your past and current experiences are influencing your current behavior and what's keeping you stuck. We'll use a cognitive-behavioral and values-based approach to reframe the narratives you've been telling yourself that no longer serve you and develop goals to achieve better alignment with your values. I also integrate mindfulness and art as additional ways to gain insight into yourself. Seeking therapy is a big decision and kudos to you for deciding to take that next step. You deserve a safe space and to know you're not alone. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can feel comfortable sharing what you've been struggling to handle on your own and ready to start making progress.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will go over additional questions about your background so that I can get a better picture of your overall experience and to understand how your past experiences may have contributed to where you are right now. This might take up the entire first session if there's a lot to cover, but if we have additional time left I like to dive right into whatever has been most pressing on your mind lately or something you've been feeling like you have not been able to vent about.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Clients have told me that my calm demeanor and soothing voice have made a positive impact on them. I also believe that I'm an easy person to talk to, as this was something people have been telling me long before I became a therapist. Other strengths are my attention to detail and having a pretty good memory which allows me to remember names and details of what you share with me so I can make even better connections and see your situation from a broader perspective.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I like to start off using this treatment method because it helps us identify the thoughts and beliefs that are contributing to your mental health condition. I work closely with clients to recognize and reframe unhelpful thoughts that may be perpetuating anxiety, depression, or other challenges through talk therapy and homework assignments. This process empowers individuals to develop a more balanced and realistic perspective.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate DBT into my practice for those struggling with intense emotional experiences, a history of abandonment, trouble with interpersonal relationships, or who could benefit from mindfulness practices. I utilize validation often and educate clients on DBT from the DBT Skills Training manual written by the creator of DBT, Marsha Linehan.

Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology is woven throughout most of my sessions as the focus on what is working well or what works well for others rather than focusing on negative symptoms. It's also about engaging in activities that promote overall wellness. I love helping clients identify and explore what sparks their inspiration and contributes to their overall wellbeing.

Psychoeducation

I enjoy explaining different treatment methods but I also like to provide psychoeducation on each treatment method as well that way my client understands it is an evidenced-based approach and there's a roadmap for success. I also regularly give homework assignments that encourage clients to deepen their understanding of the concepts and to practice what is being taught.
