LCSW, 8 years of experience
New to Grow
I have worked in the social service field for over 15 years as a social worker, clinician and in administration. I enjoy giving, sharing, working in the community, and connecting individuals to essential resources and empowering them towards growth, progress and self-sufficiency. My hope and objectives are to inspire others to keep going despite life’s challenges and difficult experiences. Considering personal experiences with setbacks and health challenges, obtaining an education and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker was not destined for me, however, it became obtainable and has been a great achievement. My all-time driven mottos are: "If I can, you can” and "carpe diem" seize the day as tomorrow is not promised. Therefore, I strive to reach back and help others thrive and live life full out. I am inspired by the teachings of Brene Brown who states …” we can have courage or we can have comfort, but we cannot have both…courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” And I remain motivated by the late great Maya Angelou as she declares, “Still I Rise” …. “What you’re supposed to do when you don’t like a thing is change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it” [and] “nothing will work unless you do.”
In the first session we will find out about you and explore what challenges, feelings or situations are getting in the way of your productivity. We will discover what you want to gain from treatment. In follow up sessions we will cover areas of focus and discuss practical tools that can be applied to help face those daily challenges.
By fostering a collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment, I've empowered individuals to explore and identify strengths, overcome challenges, break free from limitations, and embrace the opportunity to live boldly and authentically. I’m committed to facilitating transformative journeys and supporting transition from a state of emotional or psychological distress to one characterized by resilience, empowerment, growth and healing. My areas of focus, strengths, & therapeutic offering include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing to help support mental health, physical health, personal growth, self-esteem, race-based trauma and career difficulty.
We’ve all experienced sadness, anxiety, poor coping with life's events or challenging relationships at some point, yet when that feeling or situation gets in the way of our productivity or happiness, it’s time to be addressed. I’ve treated anxiety, depression, peer and family conflict and stress with coping for over 6 years, mainly using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We’ll focus on what triggers your problem forming thoughts and the false stories playing in your mind. Then we’ll create a plan that includes evidence-based techniques and work through it in collaboration until your anxiety, depression or conflict becomes more manageable.
By fostering a collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment, I've been able to help individuals explore and identify strengths, which has helped empower clients to understand their potential for creating solutions and developing a proactive mindset. This has led to change by breaking free from problems and limitations, overcoming challenges and embracing the opportunity to live boldly and authentically.
I’m committed to facilitating transformative journeys and supporting transition from a state of emotional or psychological distress to one characterized by resilience, empowerment, growth and healing. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has helped facilitate this by helping individuals discover how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other; and has helped change their thinking patterns towards managing anxiety, a less stressed life and navigating a journey with more productive daily living.
