New to Grow
Hello! My name is Megan and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker residing in Northeast Florida. I began my career as a domestic violence and sexual assault children's advocate, clarifying my purpose to serve other womxn. In 2017, I became a certified full spectrum doula. Soon after, I returned to school to earn my Masters in Social Work from University of North Florida, class of 2020. I have been working in the social work field since, but launched my private practice in January 2025 and feel honored to support clients with counseling services.
the first session is a time for us to get to know one another and begin building a therapeutic relationship. You can share what brings you to therapy, what your goals are, and anything else you would like for me to know. I will ask some questions to have background knowledge on you in order to provide the best services possible. Together we will establish the treatment goals to focus on in future sessions.
I use strengths-based, person-centered, and feminist approach to provide solution-focused brief therapy services. In therapy we focus on you- this is really a time for you to drive the bus, as I am in the passenger seat as a witness. I will support with reflection on situations at hand, offer suggestions, and provide tools (ex. mindfulness tools) along the way, but ultimately you determine the route we are taking. I take time to affirm the things you are already doing 'right'- I believe people already have their "answers" and therapy provides the space and time to clarify those. I am seeking my Florida Infant Mental Health endorsement to work with new parents and their babies to overcome challenges they may be having and help establish a secure attachment. Ultimately, I am here to hold hope during dark times and support clients to help them navigate challenging times in their life in order to come out on the other side more resilient than ever.
I work primarily with womxn facing life transitions and specialize in reproductive and perinatal (pregnancy/postpartum period) seasons. Adjusting to change can be challenging and pregnancy, having a baby, baby loss, infertility, and just all around being a human is HARD. I partner with clients for them to determine their goals to feel their best as they navigate these complex transitions.
I use the Feminist theory to keep in mind all identifies clients hold and the systems at play which may interact with the client's experiences.
In working with pregnant or new parents, I like to discuss attachment with their babies and educate on tools and developmental milestones that can empower parents to enhance attachment.
I am trained in ERP to help clients experiencing out-of-control thoughts, obsessions, fears, and limitations on what they will/will not do in life to overcome these barriers to living the life they desire.
I believe the client is the expert on their life. Clients identify their own therapeutic goals and can altar their goals at any time.
I help clients identify ways in which their thoughts hold patterns of cognitive distortions. specifically we look at how unrealistic expectations and things clients feel like they "should" do.
