New to Grow
I like to help people, whether that be with anxiety, depression, trauma, or neurodiversity. Let's work together to move towards your goals. I've worked in a variety of settings through my career, which has allowed me to help people with wide range of needs and diagnoses. Whether you're an individual looking to process and meet for talk therapy, or a couple wanting to build communication skills, or someone interested in trying Brainspotting, which a brain-body alternative therapy, let's work together.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
If you were to give a PowerPoint presentation on the big points of your life, what are the things you'd want me to know from the beginning? While we're building trust, I'm interested in knowing what brings you to therapy now. What have past experiences with therapy been? On your end, it's important to check in with how comfortable you are talking to the person across from you. My best advice is to find 3 possible therapists you can reach out and do a consultation with. From there, talk to them and see which one matches what you're looking for.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As a social worker, I recognize just how detrimental the systems we live within are to our mental health. Things like racism, capitalism, ableism all take a physical toll on us. So how do we continue to live and push through? I think community and connecting to others is one of the biggest protective factors for mental health.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Are you a trans person tired of explaining gender identity? Or maybe someone who has started learning more about neurodivergence and want to find ways to manage your sensory needs? I like to work with people who are ready and willing to show up for themselves. My approach is relational, which mainly means that I don't want you to feel like you're talking to a brick wall or a parrot. Whatever your goals might be, I'm here to help.
Trauma-Focused CBT
By working together, we'll use cognitive restructuring to process trauma memories safely and reduce PTSD symptoms. At the same time, we'll also build up grounding and coping skills to be able to regulate when triggered and build distress tolerance.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
We all have parts within ourselves that seek to protect the whole. IFS helps to see where these parts are trying to meet a need by whatever means possible. By finding, naming, and communicating with your parts, you can help to bring the whole system together to get your needs met.
Narrative
What are the stories you tell about yourself? What beliefs do you hold and how does that shape the way you see the world? This style of therapy is helpful when looking to change the way you view yourself and the world you live in.
