I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, with 18+ years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked with individuals of all ages, ranging from very young children to older adults. I have experience in group, family, couples, and individual therapy. I've worked in D&A and trauma as well. My wide variety of experience has allowed me to gain knowledge and insight, which has been helpful in assisting others with their concerns.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we'll do overall introductions. I prefer to give my clients the opportunity to discuss what they want to get from therapy and our sessions. I spend the time listening to your goals, expectations, and story. This is your time and I want to understand what's important to you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I've had a variety of different ages and areas of counseling over the years. This has helped me gain insight and understanding to better assist others with their concerns. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing mostly. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: helps individuals identify and change thought patterns and behaviors that are unhelpful Reality therapy: emphasizes personal responsibility and the importance of fulfilling basic psychological needs through effective choices Motivational Interviewing: collaborative, client-centered counseling approach designed to enhance motivation for change by exploring and resolving ambivalence.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with all kinds of people. I have seen the most effective results in those who are open and willing to discuss their concerns and start to work on them. I've assisted others in working on their own healing, as well as developing stronger coping skills, problem solving skills, etc. My ideal clients are those who are looking for someone who will help empower them in their own lives.

Reality therapy focuses on present concerns/relationships with less focus on the past. The goal of this type of therapy is to help people take control of improving their own lives by learning to make better choices.
