Hello, my name is Lucila Martinez. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I work with individual's statewide via telehealth. I am also bilingual. I have over 10 years of experience. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in anxiety, relationship issues, depression, life transitions, low self-esteem, and stress. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Expressive Arts, Play Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help individual's make progress and improve their well-being.
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first to provide the best client care possible.
I have over 10 years of experience treating children and adults with mental health issues. I have years of specialized training in several modalities. I have a passion for helping people. I want individuals to feel comfortable talking with me about anything. I pride myself on the ability to listen without judgment.
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each individual. My approach begins by establishing a therapist-client relationship by creating a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment to address your concerns and challenges. I typically work with children, teens, and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help individuals navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a positive outlook on life.
I utilize CBT by identifying negative thought patterns that the individual is having. Individual's will learn to question and challenge these negative thoughts. Individual's will also learn coping skills to manage mental health symptoms and behaviors.
I utilize DBT to help individuals manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. I utilize this treatment method because it focuses on teaching skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
