Hello! My name is Laura Lininger, LCSW. I attended Indiana University and got my BA in Psychology and then moved on to Tulane University in NOLA for my Masters in Social Work. I have worked for many years doing child and adolescent therapy and then later added working with adults to the services I provide. I believe my child and adolescent therapy background has been a great foundation for working with adults who are dealing with childhood trauma or family of origin issues. As for treatment approaches, I use Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR. I also include a lot of mindfulness practice in my work with clients. I am proud to provide a safe environment for all races, genders, religions, and clients from the LGBTQ community.
During our first session, we will discuss the issues concerning you and what goals you have for therapy. During the first and sometimes in to the second session, I also get a thorough personal history such as family history, history of life experiences, and relationship history. Please be aware that I do NOT use AI features on this platform.
I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental setting for clients. Feeling safe and accepted are essential towards establishing a therapeutic relationship. I work collaboratively with clients, allowing them to determine their goals in therapy.
Do you feel like past issues come up in your life repeatedly? Do you struggle with negative thoughts and feelings about yourself and your mental health? Are you ready to take steps towards a life that is more meaningful and satisfying? I would be honored to work with you on identifying what is holding you back and finding your path forward. I work with children over the age of six, adolescents, and adults.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
I have been an EMDR provider for 5 years. I find EMDR to be very effective in treating not only Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder but also depression, other anxiety disorders, and issues around self-image and self-esteem.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I also often use Acceptance Commitment Therapy. ACT helps clients accept their emotions and reduce the struggle with them, freeing up energy to engage in meaningful and valued activities.

After seeing Laura for 5 months, I can confidently say I finally found a therapist I trust and feel comfortable with. Creating a space where I can be 100% honest and vulnerable has been monumental for my mental health and growth. The perspective she provides and questions she asks have played a significant role in my progress. I look forward to the work I do in session with Laura, even if it’s hard sometimes I always leave feeling more like the person I want to be.

I had my first visit with Laura today - I felt very seen and heard. She creates a safe, supportive space while also asking thoughtful questions that get to the heart of things. I’m really looking forward to continuing this work with her.
