LMHC, 20 years of experience
New to Grow
I have worked as a therapist for over 18 years. I previously worked in clinics and am comfortable dealing with nearly every kind of mental health issue. In recent years, I have become particularly interested in helping those dealing with reoccuring or chronic mental health issues and helping those who help people dealing with mental health concerns. My goal is to equip clients to deal with whatever they are facing in a calmer, more effective manner.
In our first session, I want to get to know who you are and what you are currently facing that is causing you distress. I might ask some questions to get us started, then I will listen. I will do everything I can to make you feel comfortable; it can be daunting to speak to a stranger about hard things and I want to make that easier.
I love my work; I truly believe there is nothing too hard to face when given the tools and the support needed. I like to use humor where appropriate, and I bring compassion to the unique situation you are facing. Every person has strength, courage, beauty and creativity in them, sometimes undiscovered. Together, we will unlock your potential to face what you need to face with grace.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, burnt out and worried? Do you feel the things you enjoy are out of reach, or you have lost touch with what that could be? Living a life in which you feel fulfilled in some way, finding pleasure in small things even when the big things are hard, feeling connected to others: these are things everyone needs and deserves. I want to help you feel better, more stable, more fulfilled, and hopefully happier. We cannot avoid problems, setbacks or negative events in life, but we can face them with grace and courage.
Acknowledging your situation and what isn't working for you is often the first step in finding relief. From there, we look at options and steps you can take to feel better.
Thought patterns, emotions and your knee jerk responses are so intimately tied that it can often be hard to untangle them on your own. Together, we can get to the root of the problem!
DBT is a toolbox. We can all use the basic methods it teaches to stabilize ourselves and promote well-being.
