About me

Hi, I’m Marissa Andris (Davitt), LMHC — a therapist and coach who helps women move from overwhelm and self-doubt into clarity, steadiness, and meaningful change. I support clients who feel stretched thin, stuck in old patterns, or disconnected from the version of themselves they want to be. Many of the women I work with are managing anxiety, perfectionism, emotional eating, or burnout, and are craving a calmer, more grounded way of living. They’re often high-functioning on the outside but wrestling with exhaustion, shame, or feeling “not enough” on the inside. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with action-oriented coaching, mindfulness, and a mind-body lens. You’ll find that our work is compassionate and grounding, but also focused on movement, change, and building habits that support your emotional and physical wellbeing. I use CBT, ACT, and solution-focused tools alongside a person-centered relationship—so you feel both supported and encouraged to take meaningful steps forward. Clients describe me as warm, direct, and deeply invested in their growth. Together, we create a space where you can slow down, understand what’s getting in the way, and begin making choices aligned with who you want to be. If you’re ready for a clear path, steady support, and an approach that honors both your humanity and your goals, I’d be honored to work with you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session with me is designed to feel grounding, supportive, and easeful—not rushed or overwhelming. My goal is to help you settle in, understand what brings you here, and begin creating a sense of clarity about where we’re headed together. We’ll start by talking about what prompted you to reach out—whether it’s a specific challenge, a pattern you’re ready to break, or a feeling of “I can’t keep doing life this way.” There is no pressure to share everything at once. You can go at your own pace. Some people like to give the big picture; others prefer to focus on the most immediate concern. Both are welcome. From there, I’ll ask thoughtful, gentle questions to get a sense of your history, your current stressors, and how your emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and body have been responding to what you’re going through. This helps me understand the context of your life and the patterns that might be keeping you stuck. We’ll also talk about your goals—what you hope to feel, understand, change, or rebuild. You don’t need to have perfect clarity on this. Many clients come in saying, “I just know I don’t feel like myself.” Together, we’ll turn that into meaningful and manageable goals that guide our work. I’ll share how I blend therapy and coaching, and how modalities like CBT, ACT, and solution-focused work can help you reduce overwhelm, get unstuck, and start feeling more grounded and empowered in your daily life. You’ll get a sense of my style: warm, direct, collaborative, and focused on both insight and action. By the end of the first session, you can expect: A clearer understanding of what’s happening inside you—emotionally, mentally, and physically. A sense of connection and safety, knowing you don’t have to navigate your struggles alone. Initial goals or themes that will guide your next steps. Practical direction around what the next few sessions may focus on. Immediate relief from simply having space to exhale and be honest about what you’re carrying. Most clients leave the first session feeling seen, understood, and hopeful—not because everything is “fixed,” but because they finally feel supported and have a path forward. Our work is a partnership. You bring your lived experience and your readiness for growth; I bring clinical skill, grounded presence, and tools to help you create real change. Together, we’ll build momentum one steady, intentional step at a time.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes my approach unique is the way I blend evidence-based therapy with holistic, action-focused coaching to help women create change that feels both grounded and sustainable. I don’t just help clients understand their patterns—I help them shift those patterns through clarity, nervous-system regulation, practical skills, and aligned daily action. My work weaves together CBT, ACT, solution-focused strategies, and person-centered support, but always in a way that feels personalized, human, and calm. I focus on helping clients slow down, reconnect with themselves, and make sense of what’s happening internally—while also building confidence, direction, and momentum. Clients often tell me that sessions feel grounding and validating, yet also productive and forward-moving. A few things that make my approach stand out: 1. A calm, clear, supportive presence. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, anxious, overstretched, or unsure where to begin. I help them create space to breathe, understand their internal experience, and see a way forward. They frequently say they feel lighter, clearer, and more regulated after sessions. 2. A therapy + coaching blend that creates real movement. I offer both reflection and action. We explore emotions, beliefs, and patterns—and then translate that insight into small, meaningful steps that align with your goals. This blend helps clients not only understand “why” they feel stuck but actually change their daily experience. 3. A mind-body lens. I help clients tune into what their body is communicating—stress, anxiety, impulse, fatigue, hunger cues, or emotional overwhelm—and use this information to guide healthier coping, emotional regulation, and self-leadership. Clients learn to trust themselves again. 4. Focus on clarity, direction, and prioritization. Many clients come in wanting to fix everything at once. I help them organize their inner world, clarify what matters most, and choose a starting point that has a ripple effect on all areas of life. 5. Realistic, compassionate, steady change. Instead of pushing for extreme goals or fast fixes, we build momentum through consistent, values-aligned steps. Clients learn how to shift habits, regulate emotions, set boundaries, and follow through in a way that feels doable—not draining. 6. Deep respect for each client’s wisdom, identity, and lived experience. I view therapy as a relationship where you are the expert on your life, and I walk with you as a guide—supporting

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with women who are highly capable on the outside yet quietly struggling on the inside—women who appear organized, responsible, or high-achieving, but are battling anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional eating, or a constant feeling of being overwhelmed. These are women who know they’re meant to feel more grounded, confident, and connected, but can’t seem to get unstuck from old patterns that keep pulling them off balance. Many of my clients come to therapy in a season of transition or self-reflection. They might be navigating burnout, redefining their identity, healing from long-term stress, or trying to rebuild healthier habits around food, emotional regulation, movement, or boundaries. They’re seeking a space where they don’t have to have everything figured out—a place where they can slow down, understand what’s happening internally, and move toward the life they want with intention. I’m especially well-suited to support clients who: Struggle with anxiety, worry, or constant “mental noise.” These clients want relief from looping thoughts and a calmer, more regulated nervous system. Feel stuck in perfectionism or self-criticism. They function well but feel pressure to be everything to everyone, often at the expense of their own needs. Use food, distraction, or overworking to cope. They want a healthier relationship with eating, movement, and self-care—and want to stop cycling between control and avoidance. Are overwhelmed by how many areas of life “need fixing.” They want clarity, prioritization, and a gentle but steady path forward. Want therapy that is grounding, practical, and action-oriented. They’re open to exploring their emotions and taking meaningful steps to change their habits and daily functioning. I am a strong fit for clients who value a supportive, honest, and collaborative therapeutic relationship—one that blends evidence-based therapy (CBT, ACT, SFBT, person-centered work) with coaching, mindfulness, and mind-body alignment. My clients tend to be introspective, motivated for growth, and willing to try new strategies, even if they feel unsure at first. Most importantly, I serve women who are tired of feeling reactive or disconnected from themselves, and who want a therapist-coach who will walk alongside them while also helping them build momentum. If you’re seeking clarity, steadiness, emotional balance, and a more aligned way of living, I’m here to help you get there—one grounded step at a time.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so they can feel more grounded, clear, and in control. In our work together, we identify thought patterns that fuel anxiety, perfectionism, emotional eating, and overwhelm, and replace them with more balanced, compassionate responses. I weave CBT into a holistic, action-oriented approach—combining insight, structured skill-building, and accountability—so clients can create steady, meaningful change in their daily lives.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build psychological flexibility—the ability to stay present, make grounded choices, and move toward what truly matters, even when life feels overwhelming. ACT teaches clients how to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions by practicing acceptance, mindfulness, and values-guided action.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients move toward change by identifying strengths, possibilities, and what’s already working. Rather than focusing heavily on problems or the past, SFBT centers on creating clear goals and practical steps that bring clients closer to the life they want.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In my practice, person-centered looks like meeting clients exactly where they are, honoring their lived experiences, and believing in their innate capacity for growth and healing. I listen closely, reflect their strengths, and help them reconnect with their inner wisdom. This foundation supports every modality I use, fostering a therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and capable of creating meaningful change.
