About me

With over twenty years experience as a therapist, I have always considered it a privilege to be allowed into the most intimate details of my clients' lives, their pain, their sorrows and their joys. Using a collaborative approach, I help clients gain insight into the thoughts and behaviors that may be holding them back. I help clients to draw on their strengths, and to learn coping skills in order to improve their lives, and find greater happiness. I specialize in mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, sexual addiction, grief, trauma and anxiety. Therapy, can be hard but rewarding work, and I honor your trust by providing a safe and supportive environment in which you can share your story and heal.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is an assessment to determine an appropriate diagnosis and treatment goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am very interactive and didactic during sessions. I can be very direct with my feedback and you won't have to guess at what I'm thinking. You are not expected to agree with everything I say, but I do ask that you think about it. Conversely, I will always be open to hearing your feedback.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have worked with a variety of clients in my professional life including clients suffering from psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, and trauma. I am the most experienced working with 13 years old and older.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT has so many applications and it is evidence based. I use it to teach coping skills for depression anxiety, and anger. I use it to teach assertiveness and communication skills. Finally, I use it in order to get clients ready for EMDR.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT teaches that your thoughts influence your feelings which in turn influences your behaviors. Learning to identify your maladaptive or negative thoughts, learning how to control and reframe those identified thoughts and hence your mood and behaviors can be so easy and liberating. You will find that in time, your positive/adaptive thoughts will become automatic.

EMDR

I use EMDR for clients with a history of trauma. First I build your ability to cope with any negative thoughts, feelings and memories that could come up, and then follow up with EMDR and install more positive cognitions.
