New to Grow
I am an experienced clinician with over 16 years of experience, 6 years in private practice. My scope of practice includes working with clients with PTSD, I specialized in utilizing EMDR to help clients with complex, acute and chronic PTSD and I work with couples using evidence-based techniques. My expertise inclules domestic violence/abuse survivors as well as addiction counseling. My experience includes working with children 0-18, working in prison with inmates, working in addiction in a treatment setting, working with SMI population, working with couples and individual trauma work.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
My approach is open, friendly, welcoming, supportive. Intake will be the first session to include a biopsychosocial which is a general questionnaire which will help me gain a better perspective of where to address therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What differentiates me from other therapists, as I've been told by many clients is "that you care". I do have a high level of compassion, however I do not enable my clients. I teach them to be independent in their thinking and help them manage their emotions.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client would be someone who is high functioning but suffering from chronic PTSD with symptoms of mood fluctuations. I am also highly successful in working with couples to help them improve communication. I have years of experience in addiction counseling. I have also worked with inmates in prison, and enjoyed working with this population.
EMDR
I have used EMDR with hundreds of clients over the past 5 years and have received excellent reviews from clients regarding their changed ability to cope with life stressors and increased clarity about themselves and what they endured.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a successful tool when used with clients who are though-based, strong in prefontal executive functioning.
