LCSW, 9 years of experience
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide compassionate and culturally sensitive care for adults navigating grief, loss, trauma, and major life changes. I know how overwhelming it can feel when life shifts in ways you never expected, and my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you don’t have to carry those feelings alone. My approach blends genuine empathy with evidence-based strategies, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and grief-informed practices. Together, we’ll work on practical skills to manage strong emotions, set healthy boundaries, and find moments of peace in the middle of pain. I believe deeply in honoring each person’s story, culture, and strengths. I also recognize that Black individuals and other marginalized communities often face unique challenges around grief, resilience, and mental health, and I strive to hold space for those experiences with care and understanding. Healing isn’t about “moving on,” but about learning how to carry your experiences with more balance, meaning, and hope. Whether you are coping with loss, adjusting to major changes, or feeling weighed down by stress, I will walk beside you with compassion and encouragement. My hope is that our work together helps you reconnect with your strength and rediscover a sense of healing and renewal.
In our first session, my focus is on creating a safe and compassionate space where you can share your story at your own pace. I’ll walk you through how therapy works, explain confidentiality, and learn more about your goals and hopes for our work together. Because grief, loss, and life changes can feel overwhelming and isolating, I approach our time with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for your unique experiences. You can expect me to listen with care, ask thoughtful questions, and explore both your current concerns and the experiences that brought you here. We’ll also begin identifying coping tools you can start using right away and outline a plan for moving forward. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and encouraged that healing is possible.
One of my greatest strengths is creating a compassionate, culturally sensitive space where clients feel truly safe and supported. I combine evidence-based approaches—including CBT, DBT skills, grief therapy, and Motivational Interviewing—with a deep understanding of loss shaped not only by training, but also by personal experience. I meet each client where they are, helping them uncover their own strengths, build resilience, and practice coping tools they can carry into everyday life. I consider it an honor to walk alongside people during some of their hardest seasons, offering guidance as they process pain, honor their experiences, and move forward with renewed hope and meaning.
My ideal clients are adults navigating grief, loss, trauma, and major life changes who are seeking a compassionate, culturally sensitive space to process and heal. I am especially passionate about supporting Black men and women, while warmly welcoming clients of all backgrounds. Many of the people I work with are mourning the death of a loved one, adjusting to changes such as relocation, relationships, or career shifts, or coping with other profound endings. I understand the deep impact of loss—not only as a therapist, but as someone who has experienced it personally—and I know how isolating it can feel. I also work with clients impacted by trauma, including Veterans and those carrying generational or racial stress. My clients come ready to explore their emotions, honor what they’ve lost, and take steps toward resilience. Together, we focus on building coping skills, fostering self-compassion, and creating meaning in the chapters ahead so that healing and hope feel possible again.
I use CBT to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. Through structured techniques, we work together to develop healthier coping strategies, build resilience, and create lasting changes in mood and functioning. This approach is collaborative, goal-oriented, and tailored to each client’s unique needs.
I use DBT to help clients build practical tools for managing emotions, coping with stress, and improving relationships. In our work together, we’ll practice skills like mindfulness, healthy boundary-setting, and ways to calm your mind and body during tough moments. I keep things down-to-earth and supportive, often giving simple exercises to try between sessions so the skills feel natural in everyday life. My goal is to help you feel both understood and equipped with strategies that bring more balance and peace.
I am trained in EMDR but do not currently use the full protocol in my practice. Instead, I incorporate specific elements—such as resourcing and calm place exercises—to help clients build emotional stability, manage distress, and strengthen their ability to cope during difficult moments.
I specialize in supporting individuals through the profound challenges of grief and loss, whether related to death, life transitions, or other significant endings. This work is deeply personal to me, as I wish I had access to this kind of support during my own experiences of loss. My approach blends compassion, cultural sensitivity, and evidence-based strategies to help clients process emotions, honor what has been lost, and navigate life after loss with resilience and hope.
I use motivation interviewing to help clients explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and collaboration, we uncover personal values and goals, address ambivalence, and build confidence in taking steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
