New to Grow
I am a clinical psychologist with specialized training in treating individuals with eating disorders. I completed by doctoral training at the University of Kansas and my clinical internship at the University of Pittsburgh. Like many of my colleagues, I became a psychologist because I deeply care about helping individuals improve their mental health in pursuit of living a fulfilling life!
You are the expert of your own experience. For this reason, my primary goal in the first session is to get to know you and your goals for therapy. Together we will make an individualized treatment plan to fit your needs and help you work towards your goals. After the first session, we will check in regularly to ensure that you are making progress towards your goals and will adjust your treatment plan if needed.
In addition to being a therapist, I am a researcher. I actively contribute to research studies to better understand eating disorders and improve the treatment of eating disorders. I also stay up to date on the latest research coming out of the mental health fields to ensure that you are receiving care that is well-informed.
I am well positioned to work with individuals who strive to have a healthier relationship with their body, food, and exercise. In addition to eating disorders, I am trained to provide evidence-based care to individuals with anxiety (e.g., generalized anxiety, OCD, phobias) and depression.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat anxiety and depression. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) to help individuals with binge eating disorder and bulimia nervosa.
I use the skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) including interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance to help individuals communicate effectively with others and manage their emotions.
I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help treat individuals with specific phobias and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I also utilize ERP skills to help individuals with eating disorders and compulsive exercise behaviors.
