I am licensed in the state of Ohio with 10 years of professional experience. I have helped clients with stress, life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, anger management, motivation, self-esteem, and other concerns. Thank you for taking the steps to engage in therapy. I provide a space where clients can be their authentic selves, allowing them to discuss and process life events that contribute to their distress. A key focus is helping clients overcome mental anguish by fostering a supportive environment, providing encouragement, and teaching effective coping skills. This enables them to enhance their enjoyment of life and improve their mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we will go over treatment consents, conduct an evaluation and assessment of your needs. I will gather information about your background and your presenting concerns in a conversational style environment. Together, we will determine if I am the best clinician to help you achieve your treatment goals. If we decide to proceed with therapy, I will recommend the appropriate frequency and duration of appointments. I encourage you to ask questions at any time. During this appointment, I will also provide you with all the necessary communication methods to reach me.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Clients have expressed that my conversational style and active listening create a safe space for them to open up and share the details that bring them to therapy. I enjoy learning and have developed skills that are particularly useful in my multicultural practice. Additionally, I cultivate personal connections within the therapeutic environment to help clients achieve their therapy goals. Clients have also provided feedback that they appreciate the guidance toward their own resources that has tremendously improved their well-being.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Clients who express sentiments like “I put myself aside and be there for everyone else,” “I just keep it moving,” “I don’t matter,” “I don’t want to be seen as weak,” “I just got used to it,” “this is how I grew up, it’s okay,” “I’ll be alone forever,” “I deserved that,” or “It was my fault” are the ones who thrive in my practice. These clients are ready to process their distress and develop coping skills to manage their challenges while enhancing their quality of life and I’m here to assist them on their journey!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a treatment method used in my practice to help clients learn how to identify and change destructive thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behavior and emotions. The goal is for the client to challenge and overcome negative beliefs and use practical strategies to change or modify their behavior.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
In my practice, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help clients evaluate and change distressing thoughts that arise after experiencing a traumatic event. The goal is to empower clients to develop adaptive strategies they can use outside of therapy to enhance their overall functioning and quality of life. The treatment focuses on key areas such as safety, trust, power, control, esteem, and intimacy.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
The ACT treatment method combines acceptance and behavior change strategies. In our sessions, clients will learn to make space for discomfort and live in alignment with their values. The goal is to help clients achieve greater life satisfaction and be fully present in the moment. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is particularly well-suited for culturally responsive treatment, allowing clients to integrate principles such as equity and social justice.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
In my practice, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is used for clients with emotional regulation concerns, especially those who experience intense emotions. The goal is for clients to improve their communication in relationships, develop the ability to observe thoughts, emotions, and actions without judgment, cope with emotional pain and challenging situations by accepting them as they are, let go of expectations of what they "should be," and gain effective strategies for regulating emotions
Grief Therapy
In grief therapy sessions, I assist clients as they navigate the various stages and emotions following a loss. I aid them in processing the pain of grief, fostering resilience, and creating coping strategies to handle the intense emotions and thoughts that emerge during the grieving process. Grief can result from the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, the loss of a pet, a job, a diagnosis of an illness, financial stability, or other significant losses.
