About me

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a flawed person saved by grace interested in helping you become the best version of yourself that you have been designed to be. I have done my work and continue to do my work and now willing to help you in the capacity you need to be whole and healthy. I believe we never arrive; however, we remain on an axle ever evolving to find that balance in the universe. I have learned over the years you cannot keep what you have unless you are willing to be a blessing to others. I have been blessed with a wealth of knowledge and well over 20 years of experience I am willing to share, meeting you where you are in your process of healing. My experience in Ministry, years of working in the substance abuse and mental health field has afforded me the opportunity to witness the miraculous in the lives of so many. My therapeutic approach is derived from techniques inspired by Aaron Beck who instituted Cognitive Therapy. In addition, I strongly believe in the essential factors necessary for growth from a person- centered perspective “self-actualization, empathy, and unconditional positive regard.” Let your Faith be bigger than your fear. I am here. Help me, help you, together we will accomplish an amazing feat.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session you can expect a cordial introduction, shortly followed by an intake process guided by a series of questions. The initial visit is a period for us, meaning the client and myself to get to know each other and get an idea of how to proceed. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature. For example, in the second session, the client may explore a specific symptom, problem, or past trauma you mentioned in the first session. During the first session, I may ask questions such as: • What are your symptoms? • What brought you to therapy? • What do you feel is wrong in your life? • Some questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), your current living situation, and/or your career. In addition, we will discuss the length of your treatment, methods to be employed, and ins and outs of patient confidentiality. I strongly believe knowing what to expect during your first therapy session can help you as the client feel more prepared. You can expect to be heard, count of rapport building and gaining insights as to what the desired goal will be moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength as a provider is working with someone seeking help from an addiction. My lived experience and wealth of knowledge affords me an opportunity to be an example for those in the recovery community seeking hope for a better tomorrow.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is the one ready, willing and up for the challenge to change the trajectory of their life by putting forth the effort to grow and develop into being the best version of themselves they were created to be.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My primary treatment method has been CBT for many years. My style and approach to Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is to teach the client specific skills and focus on ways that an individual’s cognitions (thoughts), emotions, and behaviors are connected and affect one another. I use techniques such as journaling, challenging beliefs, mindfulness, relaxation and social, psychical, and thinking exercises to achieve desired goals.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) is a mental health therapy method I’ve recently embraced in my practice to help clients address trauma related occurrences as well as many other conditions. This method allows your brain to resume a natural healing process.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is much like CBT, which is an action-oriented approach that I employ to help the individual deal with irrational beliefs. My goal is to help the client learn how to manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a healthier, more realistic way. REBT helps people recognize and alter those beliefs and negative thinking patterns to overcome psychological problems and mental distress.

Faith based therapy

Faith-based therapy is a type of counseling or therapy I’ve used for many years as I am a licensed minister. It involves a spiritual component as opposed to a specific religious viewpoint. I combine evidence-based practices and clinical techniques from a mental health professional perspective with teachings found in scripture. It helps the client to find healing through God/higher power rather than oneself or another person. I also focus on improving decision-making skills and examining beliefs that influence behavior.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy, also known as Rogerian therapy, allows one to employ a non-authoritative approach, allowing the client to take lead in the session arriving at their own solutions. This approach allows me as the clinician to have a more compassionate stance, listening without judgment, while acknowledging the client’s experience. This approach is all about self-discovery, as the individual uncovers the true essence of their being.

Diane's approach to therapy is great. Her questions really make you think about what is happening, how you have processed and what is next, just for starters. So glad that she is here to help and guide.
