2/11/2025- I am currently accepting in-person sessions! Please reach out if interested in telehealth. Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Kentucky with my pup Sir Rainey. I have received my Masters from Florida State University. As a queer and Neurodivergent therapist, my passion lies in serving folks in the LGBTQIA+/ND communities, whether that be coping skills for Anxiety/Depression, finding diagnoses for unexplained or overlooked symptoms, or finding themselves through goal setting and increased self-acceptance. I strive every day to approach my work and my life with cultural humility and understand that mental health is not one-size-fits-all. I fully stand by equity over equality for all human beings. Find my professional Facebook and Instagram by searching Sydney Wilson LCSW on either platform!
We will spend the first session discussing your goals, priorities, wants, and needs. I may explore past experiences to understand your mindset and motivation. We will discuss past healing practices you may have used to ensure we are a good fit for each other! In follow-ups, we will complete your plan of action and begin moving through skills/practices that are going to assist you in reaching your desired outcomes!
I would say my strengths lie in hearing the client and exploring further to ensure I understand before moving forward. I welcome the clients asking questions and advocating for themselves! If I do not know something, I will do all I can to learn, find the information/resources for the client, or get them referred to another professional who can assist where I cannot.
I have predominantly worked with adolescents and young adults but have experience with 4 to 60-year-olds! My clients can start at any point and I will meet them where they are, whether that is not knowing where to begin or knowing exactly their therapy goals!
Attachment-Based Therapy: We will spend time looking at early childhood experiences to explore the connection to your present-day relationships - no matter if they are romantic, platonic, professional, etc. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): We will take a more educational approach to skills that can assist in managing intense emotions and increase positive social interactions. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT): We will explore connections in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Using that understanding, we can identify and challenge any unhelpful beliefs to create a more beneficial mindset and habits. Solution-Focused Brief Treatment: We will explore the present-day concerns you are experiencing as well as your past experiences to guide you in finding the best solutions for your needs.
