Hello, I'm Jon Nichols. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve emotional equilibrium and personal growth. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Virginia. Over the years, I have worked with diverse populations, addressing a wide range of emotional challenges. My therapeutic approach is insight-oriented and person-centered. Through a collaborative and non-judgmental process, I strive to empower clients to build resilience, develop coping strategies, and discover their inner strengths. I enjoy working with clients who are dealing with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Adolescence, Grief Loss, Divorce, Christianity, Religious Trauma, Narcissistic Relationships, Cross-Cultural Relationships, and Culture Shock.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session with me will feel more like a thoughtful conversation than a clinical interview. My priority is that you feel safe, welcomed, and not judged. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and I respect that. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There’s no pressure to tell your whole life story in one hour. In our first meeting, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what brings you in right now — what feels heavy, confusing, frustrating, or urgent. You can speak freely, and I may ask gentle questions to better understand your experiences, patterns, and goals. This isn’t about interrogation; it’s about clarity and connection. We’ll also talk about what you’re hoping will change. Do you want relief from anxiety or depression? Better focus and consistency with ADHD? Healing from a painful relationship or divorce? A healthier relationship with faith or recovery from religious trauma? Greater confidence, resilience, or emotional balance? Together, we’ll begin shaping clear and meaningful treatment goals. Therapy works best when it’s collaborative, so your voice matters in defining what progress looks like. I’ll also explain how I work — my insight-oriented, person-centered approach — and answer any questions you have about the process. You’ll have space to ask about confidentiality, structure, frequency, or anything else that helps you feel more at ease. By the end of the first session, my hope is that you feel heard, understood, and a little less alone in whatever you’re carrying. You should leave with a clearer sense of direction and a feeling that we’re building something purposeful together. Most importantly, you can expect warmth, respect, and authenticity. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to perform, impress, or defend yourself. You just get to be human — and we’ll start from there.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the depth and intentionality of the work we do together. I don’t focus solely on symptom reduction — although relief from anxiety, depression, or emotional distress is important. I focus on helping you understand why you feel the way you do. My work is insight-oriented and person-centered, which means we look beneath the surface at patterns, attachment dynamics, belief systems, relational wounds, and formative experiences that continue to shape your present life. Clients often tell me they appreciate that therapy with me feels both thoughtful and grounded. I balance emotional exploration with practical application. We make meaning of your experiences, but we also translate that insight into real-world changes — healthier boundaries, improved emotional regulation, clearer communication, and more aligned decision-making. Another distinguishing aspect of my work is my ability to navigate complex identity and relational themes with nuance and care. Whether you are processing religious trauma, deconstructing faith, recovering from a narcissistic relationship, navigating cross-cultural dynamics, or working through divorce or grief, I bring both psychological insight and cultural sensitivity to the process. I also work well with individuals who are introspective and motivated for growth. If you want to understand yourself more deeply — not just cope, but evolve — my approach supports that kind of transformation. Over time, clients often report: Increased emotional awareness and regulation Greater clarity about relational patterns Stronger boundaries Reduced shame and self-criticism More confidence in their identity and values A steadier sense of emotional equilibrium Above all, what stands out is the collaborative nature of the work. You are not a passive recipient of advice. You are an active participant in a thoughtful, respectful process designed to help you build resilience, reclaim your voice, and move toward a more authentic and grounded version of yourself.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by depression, or struggling to make sense of patterns in your relationships, you may be exactly the kind of person I’m best positioned to support. I work well with individuals who are thoughtful, introspective, and ready to understand themselves more deeply — even if they don’t yet have the words for what’s wrong. If you find yourself overthinking, feeling emotionally reactive, stuck in painful relationship dynamics, or questioning your identity or faith, we can work together to explore what’s beneath the surface. You may be navigating: ADHD and the frustration of inconsistency, focus challenges, or self-doubt Anxiety that feels constant, political or cultural stress, or a persistent sense of unease Depression that has dulled your motivation or sense of purpose Grief, divorce, or the loss of a relationship that has reshaped your life The aftermath of a narcissistic or emotionally manipulative relationship Religious trauma, faith deconstruction, or complex feelings about Christianity Cross-cultural relationships or culture shock that leave you feeling misunderstood or displaced Adolescence and the identity formation that comes with it I’m especially well-suited for clients who want more than symptom management. If you’re seeking insight — if you want to understand why you feel the way you do, how your past influences your present, and how to build healthier patterns moving forward — my approach is designed for that kind of work. In our sessions, you won’t be judged, rushed, or given superficial advice. Instead, we’ll collaborate. We’ll slow things down. We’ll look at the patterns, the beliefs, and the emotional wounds that may be shaping your current experience. Together, we’ll work toward greater emotional equilibrium, resilience, and a stronger connection to your authentic self. If you’re ready to grow — not by becoming someone else, but by understanding and strengthening who you already are — I would be honored to work with you.
