LMFT, 12 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello, my name is Marisol Garcia. I am first generation Mexican-American who has worked in a community mental health clinic for the past 12 years. I've gone through my own life experiences, from which I've worked on overcoming through therapy. I believe this have given me the opportunity to empathize with client, while also drawing knowledge I've gained through my education and training, as well as my own therapy, in order to help you, the client.
First session jitters are real. Let me ease your mind a bit by telling you what you can expect. I typically want to learn about you, the client. I want to learn about your strengths, challenges and short and long term goals. I also want us to discuss and clarify any expectations that you might have regarding your treatment.
Typically my clients will compliment me on my ability to be understanding, empathic, supportive while being genuine and direct. They also enjoy the humor that I bring into our sessions.
Hello and welcome! I'm Marisol Garcia, you can call me Mari or Sol. First off, congratulations on taking the first step in improving your life and working towards a healthier future filled with empowerment, safety, and genuine happiness in which you can thrive. I am here to help you on your journey of healing. I strive to offer a safe, supportive, and at times a humorous environment that allows you to safely work through past traumas, build secure attachments for healthier relationships, and help you learn the necessary skills to challenge those pesky negative thoughts and emotional waves, that can at times paralyze you and make it difficult to truly enjoy life. I draw from different theories, adapted to each client’s needs to help develop communication skills, boundary setting, coping and distress tolerance skills to overcome past and future challenges. My overall goal is to help you achieve better days by building on your strengths and working through challenges, to create and achieve the life you want and deserve. I am ready and available to help you, if you are ready to start your journey.
I try to utilize trauma informed cared with almost every client, even if trauma has not been disclosed, because I believe in the importance of prioritizing safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, autonomy, and cultural awareness in every therapeutic relationship.
I often integrate motivational interviewing in therapy to allow the client to explore thier choices, the possible outcomes, and empower them to make the best decision possible for themselves.
Often integrate CBT to help clients identify their emotions, their thoughts and core beliefs with the intention of helping them develop healthier thinking patterns.
