(she/her)
Hi, I'm Mila Green. I am a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist who has been in the mental health field for 30 years. I have a Doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology and a Masters from Pepperdine University. I help adults struggling with life changes and upheavals, such as career stress or burnout and/or relationships disruption. I have much experience working with people with anxiety, depression, mood instability, suicidality, and psychotic symptoms. I am in support of the use of psychotropic medications, when appropriate and prescribed by a Doctor, but am fully aware not everyone with mental health distress needs them.
After brief introductions and clarity on the expected process of therapy with me, we will together explore the challenges you face and your emotional distress. The first session will focus on information gathering and goal setting so that we can move forward as a team to create a plan. My goal is to create a supportive and safe space for you to explore what is happening in their life, how you are experiencing it, and why.
Over my many years in the field, I have learned my authenticity as a provider and a person is one of my greatest strengths. I focus on conveying a sense of hope, helping clients see and draw on their strengths even when they feel most vulnerable and overcoming by distressing emotions. Additionally, I work to create psychological movement in sessions so that therapy is both active and ultimately, useful. I try to use humor as a mechanism to convey information and lessen the impact of often difficult discussions.
My clients are motivated to make change but often feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start. They need support to gain new tools and practice them in a safe and supportive environment. My clients appreciate my direct but genuine nature as I understand what it is to feel overwhelmed by emotions or directionless.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral work since I started in the field in 1990. I find it creates a therapeutic environment that is driven by specific goals, clear to both the client and myself, while still being supportive and empathetic. It breaks difficult situations and symptoms into manageable pieces that lead to a sense of hope and potential recovery. I also borrow techniques and interventions from other methods, as needed, to move clients past the 'sticky bits' involved with personal change and emotional distress. In times of chaos or extreme emotional distress, having steps or a clear direction to focus on can provide the necessary grounding.
