Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will focus on getting to know you and understanding your current concerns, background, strengths, and goals so we can begin building a clear picture of what support will be most helpful. You can expect a collaborative, comfortable conversation where we discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and begin outlining a plan tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of direction for the work ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Here’s a polished version that highlights your expertise while keeping it client-friendly and professional: --- What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the combination of strong clinical expertise, creativity, and individualized care. My background in neuropsychological assessment, along with specialized training in ADHD, autism, trauma, and evidence-based therapies, allows me to understand clients from both a diagnostic and practical, skills-based perspective. I focus on translating evidence-based treatments into strategies that feel clear, relevant, and effective in everyday life. I am especially skilled at adapting evidence-based approaches to meet the developmental needs and interests of children and adolescents. I often incorporate creativity, play-based elements, and client interests into sessions to increase engagement, build rapport, and make skill-building feel natural and meaningful. Families and clients frequently share that therapy feels both structured and approachable — a space where progress happens while clients feel genuinely understood and supported.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to develop practical skills for managing anxiety, mood concerns, emotional regulation, and life stressors. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, tailoring treatment to each individual’s developmental level, strengths, and goals. With younger clients, I incorporate developmentally appropriate, engaging strategies such as visual supports, structured activities, and collaborative exercises, and I involve caregivers when appropriate to help reinforce skills outside of sessions. My approach is collaborative, goal-oriented, and individualized. I focus on providing clear psychoeducation, building effective coping tools, and supporting measurable progress while maintaining flexibility to integrate other evidence-based strategies when clinically appropriate.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop greater psychological flexibility and build a healthier relationship with their thoughts and emotions. Rather than focusing on eliminating difficult feelings, ACT supports clients in learning how to accept internal experiences, clarify personal values, and take meaningful action aligned with what matters most to them. I use ACT with children, adolescents, and adults, adapting interventions to each client’s developmental level, strengths, and goals. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and skills-based. Sessions often include mindfulness strategies, values exploration, and practical exercises that help clients respond more effectively to stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges while creating lasting, values-driven change in daily life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build concrete skills for managing intense emotions, reducing impulsive behaviors, and improving relationships. DBT combines acceptance and change strategies, helping clients learn how to tolerate distress while also making meaningful behavioral changes. In sessions, I teach and practice core DBT skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, and help clients apply these skills to real-life situations. Specific strategies I use include identifying emotional triggers, tracking patterns through skills or behavior monitoring, practicing grounding and mindfulness exercises, using distress tolerance tools (such as self-soothing, distraction, and crisis survival strategies), and strengthening communication through assertiveness and boundary-setting skills. I also support clients in building emotional awareness, reducing all-or-nothing thinking, and increasing validation and self-compassion. My approach is structured, collaborative, and practical, with an emphasis on helping clients develop skills they can confidently use outside of sessions.
