Hi, my name is Chelsea Camacho. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California that provides services to clients statewide via Telehealth. I have been licensed since 2024 , but have over 14 years of experience in the mental health field working with individuals their families by using evidence-based interventions to support the individual with life challenges. I have worked with individuals with anxiety and depression, as they navigated through life transitions. I have also assisted parents with developing positive skills to strengthen their attachment with their children. I am currently in the process being certified in Perinatal Mental Health to further help families navigate the emotions that may arise during pregnancy and post birth.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session we will give brief introductions, explore what brings you into therapy and establish goals you would like to work on. We will spend this time addressing any questions you may have about the therapeutic process. I will also review the risk and benefits of therapy, consent and confidentiality. We will also discuss what you would like to get out of therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength is showing compassion and empathy by meeting where the client is at in their current situation. I provide a space for my clients to release their thoughts and emotions in a safe and nonjudgmental space. As your therapist, I will motivate you to step out of your comfort zone to assist with your achieving your goals.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Something I enjoy bringing into the therapeutic room is my sense of humor. I want my clients to feel relaxed and open to express themselves, but also don't want my clients to feel like therapy has to be serious all the time. I enjoy collaborating with individuals and discussing challenges we face when it comes to raising a family. At times it can be stressful navigating family challenges, our child's emotions, and even our own emotional well-being. During our time together, I provide a safe, nurturing and non-judgmental space for my clients to help them process what they are feeling in the present moment and find ways to balance any life stressors that are impacting their relationship with others.
Child Parent Psychotherapy
I have experience working with parents of 0-12 age population supporting parents by strengthening their relationships between one another. I have worked with many caregivers by assisting them in developing skills to address their child's social and emotional well being. In addition, I have worked closely with the caregivers by teaching them skills to enhance their parenting styles to formulate a secure attachment with their child.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have assisted individuals by helping them understand the way they think and feel in the present moment can have an impact on the way they behave with others. I help the individual identify their challenges/issues they are currently experiencing and collaboratively work together by finding a healthy resolution they can continue to use as stressors arise in the future.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I have used Solution Focused to help the individual to come up with a resolution to their problem by discussing what has worked and not worked for them in the past. We work collaboratively on identifying strengths to achieve the individuals hopes and dreams.
Humanistic
I implement a holistic and self-center approach that focuses on ways individuals work on personal growth and help them recognize their own self-worth. I also use empathy and compassion by helping others identify their authentic self.
