LPC, 20 years of experience
Hi! My name is Cara and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, holding my license for over 20yrs. I have worked with those battling addiction, adults and adolescents who struggle with depression, anxiety and conflict resolution. I have experience working with adolescents, families, couples and individuals. My experiences include working in outpatient, residential, in-home and most recently virtual counseling settings.
In our first session, I will gather a brief history of what guided you to seek therapy. This will be beneficial to the development of your goals and the tools to achieve them. I will also share a bit more about what to expect from me during your therapy experience as well as answer any questions you have about my process.
I believe in listening to what the client needs while also challenging them. At times I can be very direct, which has been appreciated by those I would with. I feel the way to do this is building a good rapport and to have open communication.
I look forward to working with those who are eager for change, whether this be adolescents, adults or couples. I love to help clients identify their strengths and how to utilize them for their growth.

Cara was a great-listener. She took the time to get to know my partner's and my personal backgrounds and encouraged us to discuss our thoughts with each other and with her very freely. She is spoke very positively and encouraged us to try out new ideas even after the first session. We cannot wait to continue seeing her!

I can select all of the above. Cara has my best interest now and long term. I am a difficult case and she is working hard for me to search for stability in my life
I believe in using support, encouragement and empathy when helping clients navigate through difficulties they are facing. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment while also being direct so we are able to develop tools and goals for change.
I utilize EFT to help clients understand their emotions and how to regulate them. I work with clients to understand their emotions, to identify them, accept them and to express them appropriately. I have found validating emotions to be beneficial in the therapeutic process.
