Hi! I am Carlos, and I would like to start by saying welcome! Welcome to a space where you can be yourself and find comfort in knowing that you are not alone. This decision you made for yourself to seek to further understand what is going on in your life. In this process, it is about you being the expert in your life. It is important for me to provide you a space where you feel respected, listened to, and treated with compassion. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. I am a proud of graduate of USF (Bachelor's Degree) and Troy University! I am also working currently on my Ph.D in couple and family therapy from NSU! I have worked with a range of different diverse populations and a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, adjustment to major life transitions, PTSD, mood disorders, personality disorders, acculturation, and more! I have experiences working both adults and children, and some of my experiences include working with veterans, adults in community supported living, youth and their families, and college students. My therapy style has been to be non-judgmental, strengths-based, narrative, with a touch of humor/playfulness. This space is yours to co-create with me to help get you to be the best version of yourself.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

From the moment we meet, I will provide you with an introduction of myself and some things that will help us to start to create that relationship together. I encourage you to ask any questions, present any concerns you may have, and let’s figure this out together! We can then go into an assessment process for I can start to better understand you. From there, we are off to a journey together!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are being respectful, attentive, and providing one can really get involved in the process.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with individuals who are ready to start working on their process, on their time and their speed.

My treatment methods

Narrative

In my experience, using narrative therapy helps me help my client in viewing people as the authors of their own lives, emphasizing the idea that individuals are not defined by their problems. Instead, they have the ability to rewrite the stories they tell about themselves.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In my experience, using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) with my client is a useful therapeutic approach that focuses on finding solutions to the client’s current problems rather than exploring the causes of those problems. This approach emphasizes the client’s strengths, resources within, and potential.
