Welcome, it takes motivation and courage to reach out for assistance with life's challenges; I appreciate you taking time out of your day to review my profile. From my 15+ years in the field of Social Work I strongly believe that Talk Therapy can have an overwhelmingly positive impact upon various mental health conditions, cognitions and coping skills. Having an early love of books, and social justice inspired me to eventually enter the field of Social Work. I received my BA from Tufts University and my MSW from The University of Washington.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

For our first session I will provide the basic introductory information, and learn about you. We will collaboratively create a plan to address your current goals. For every session you will be given a welcoming non-judgmental space to share your story. Prior to the first session or shortly after it you may receive a bit of paperwork. If needed, we can use time during the session to address any questions you may have. (Please be sure to double check time zones when booking)

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

During graduate school I focused on Clinical Social Work and also Inter-group Dialogue. This enhanced my abilities at facilitating conversations that strive to create new levels of understanding, relating, and action. My skills were further sharpened, while working in Los Angeles, Seattle and then internationally with a range of individuals in areas of: New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, South Africa and Egypt. After traveling, I settled in Hawaii where I spent over ten years advocating and working with individuals dealing with multiple mental health diagnoses alongside poverty and houselessness. Eventually I decided to start my own private practice; but I still continue to advocate.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Presently, I work with adults of all ages experiencing instability in various facets of their lives. These challenges include the pursuit of higher education, job/income loss, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, homelessness, anger management, incarceration, self-esteem issues, historical/ancestral trauma, micro-aggressions, chronic pain and loss of support systems. (I have my own private practice in Hawaii; and work via Grow and Headway in other states where I am licensed, such as California, Washington and Alabama)

My treatment methods

Integrative

Though I tend to draw from Cognitive Behavioral and Person-Centered therapies; I believe in an Integrative Therapy approach, seeing that it can be a combination of various forms of therapy (such as:Psychodynamic, CBT, Solution-Based, Mindfulness...) that can be more inclusive, flexible and likely allowing more collaboration between client and therapist.
