LCSW, 6 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, my name is Vanessa, and I’m a licensed therapist based in Florida. I specialize in supporting individuals through trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. With over six years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse group of clients as they navigate life changes, heal from past experiences, and face mental health challenges. I provide culturally responsive and compassionate care by meeting clients where they are—personally and emotionally. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a partnership, and I value building a strong therapeutic relationship where we collaborate on your goals. My experience includes working with a wide range of concerns such as interpersonal challenges, family dynamics, racial and ethnic identity issues, and adjustment disorders. No matter what brings you to therapy, I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood, empowered, and equipped to grow.
In our work together, I bring both clinical expertise and a genuine, human connection. I believe every individual is the expert of their own experience. My role is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel truly seen and heard. We will explore the specific challenges you are facing while creating a safe, supportive space for growth. During our initial session, we will discuss confidentiality, privacy, expectations, and goals, as well as provide an overview of the therapeutic process. By the end of the session, you will have a tailored plan designed to meet your unique needs. As we move forward, sessions will continue to be customized to your goals and life experiences. I collaborate closely with each client to ensure our work feels meaningful, aligned with what matters most, and supports a stronger sense of self. I especially enjoy working with clients who are dedicated to their growth, and I recognize that meaningful change takes time. I am here to support and guide you every step of the way on this journey.
I have a unique ability to connect with clients on a deep, empathetic level. Coming from a mixed ethnic and cultural background, I bring an understanding of the intersections that shape our experiences and identities. I show up as a real, approachable person—warm, open-minded, and collaborative—while creating a safe space for clients to explore their challenges. With a compassionate and humorous approach, I guide clients toward practical solutions tailored to their personal goals. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, adapting my approach to meet each client’s unique needs and preferences. My aim is to support meaningful growth, resilience, and well-being in a way that feels authentic and empowering.
I enjoy working with clients who are open to learning more about themselves and ready to embrace the journey, even when it feels uncomfortable. I value working with those who are willing to reflect on past experiences while creating space for new ones, and who are committed to showing up for themselves in the process.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients see the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In our work together, we’ll explore common thinking patterns, practice coping strategies, and use practical tools that you can carry into everyday life. I may also suggest simple, personalized homework to support your growth outside of session. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood and empowered to make meaningful changes.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients make space for their thoughts and emotions without judgment, while focusing on what truly matters to them. Together, we explore values, build flexibility in how you respond to challenges, and practice strategies that allow you to move forward even when life feels difficult. ACT helps clients let go of the struggle with “getting rid” of unwanted feelings and instead empowers them to create a more meaningful, authentic life.
I am formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Before beginning EMDR, I take time to build a strong foundation by exploring coping skills, grounding techniques, and both internal and external resources. This helps clients feel comfortable, supported, and equipped to manage the intense emotions that may arise during the process. EMDR can be a powerful approach for healing from trauma, reducing distress, and reshaping how past experiences are stored in the brain. Many clients find it helps them move beyond painful memories, improve self-esteem, and respond to present situations with greater resilience and calm. My goal is to create a safe, steady space where clients can work through difficult experiences and experience meaningful, lasting change.
I enjoy helping clients explore the benefits of living in the present moment with a non-judgmental mindset. In our sessions, I guide practical mindfulness and meditation exercises so you can experience the calm and clarity that come from being fully present. I also encourage using these tools outside of therapy to support balance, resilience, and self-compassion in daily life.
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients find balance between acceptance and change. Together, we work on building practical skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These tools can support you in managing overwhelming emotions, improving relationships, and feeling more grounded in daily life. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can practice these strategies and learn how to apply them beyond the session.
