About me

I’m Rhonda Quiroz, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving adults at all stages of life in Nevada. I provide compassionate, personalized virtual therapy for individuals navigating life transitions, coping with grief, recovering from trauma, or healing from challenging relationships. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based, combining evidence-informed methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) with grief work to support meaningful growth and lasting change. In therapy, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions, clarify their goals, and develop practical strategies to manage stress and enhance their overall well-being. I believe that every individual has inherent strengths and resilience, and I partner with clients to build on these resources while fostering hope, empowerment, and self-awareness. Whether you are facing a significant life transition, struggling with past trauma, or simply seeking support to navigate daily challenges, my goal is to help you move from surviving to thriving at your own pace, in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first virtual session with me, we will focus on getting to know you and understanding the challenges that brought you to therapy. I will ask about your past experiences with treatment, coping strategies you’ve used, and what has or hasn’t worked for you, as well as listen closely to your story and current concerns. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapy process and share your goals. Together, we will begin to identify your strengths, clarify priorities, and outline practical steps to support your growth and well-being. The goal of the first session is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported, thereby creating a strong foundation for meaningful and collaborative work in the sessions that follow.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am direct, supportive, and optimistic about the possibility of change. My approach is focused on helping clients make meaningful progress during sessions while also encouraging growth between sessions as they practice and implement coping skills and strategies. I believe therapy doesn’t need to be forever for most clients; the most transformative work happens when clients are challenged to apply what they learn and build resilience in real life. With over 20 years of experience as a social worker, I use evidence-informed approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), strengths-based therapy, and grief work. I help clients recognize their strengths, overcome obstacles, and create practical strategies to navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and empowering space where clients feel supported, understood, and equipped to create lasting, meaningful change.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have experience using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify and build on their existing strengths, resources, and successes rather than focusing primarily on problems. I appreciate that this approach is collaborative and goal-oriented, which aligns well with my belief that clients already hold many of the tools they need to create meaningful change. In my practice, I integrate SFBT by helping clients clarify what they want their life to look like beyond the current challenge and then identify small, achievable steps to move toward that vision. I often use scaling questions, miracle questions, and exception-finding techniques to highlight progress and reinforce hope. This method has been particularly effective for clients who feel stuck or discouraged because it shifts the focus from what’s going wrong to what’s working and what’s possible. I find that even brief conversations grounded in SFBT principles can create meaningful momentum toward growth and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT enables clients to identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge distorted thinking, and develop practical strategies for coping with and solving problems. In my practice, I use CBT by collaborating with clients to set clear, achievable goals and by teaching them skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, or other concerns. This often includes thought records, behavioral experiments, and structured homework assignments that reinforce learning between sessions. I find CBT particularly effective because it empowers clients to recognize patterns in their thinking, test assumptions, and make changes that lead to tangible improvements in mood and functioning. By combining evidence-based strategies with a compassionate and individualized approach, I help clients build resilience and develop tools they can use long after therapy has ended.

Strength-Based

I have extensive experience using a strengths-based approach in my practice, which focuses on identifying and building on each client’s existing resources, skills, and resilience. Rather than emphasizing problems or deficits, this approach highlights what is already working in a client’s life and how those strengths can be used to navigate challenges and achieve personal goals. In my practice, I use a strengths-based approach by collaborating with clients to explore their values, talents, and past successes. I help them recognize patterns of resilience, draw on personal resources, and develop practical strategies for coping and growth. This approach encourages empowerment and fosters a sense of hope, as clients see that they already have the tools and capacities to create meaningful change in their lives. I find this method particularly effective in helping clients build confidence, increase motivation, and move from feeling stuck to taking actionable steps toward the life they want.

Grief Therapy

I have extensive experience providing grief therapy, supporting clients through the complex and often overwhelming process of loss. My approach is compassionate, individualized, and grounded in evidence-based practices that help clients process emotions, navigate life changes, and find ways to honor their experiences. In my practice, I use grief therapy by creating a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their feelings, identify coping strategies, and work through the stages of grief at their own pace. I incorporate techniques such as narrative work, meaning-making exercises, and emotion regulation strategies to help clients process loss while also fostering resilience and hope. I find that grief therapy is most effective when it validates the client’s unique experience and provides practical tools for managing emotions and rebuilding daily life. My goal is to help clients navigate grief in a way that feels authentic and healing, supporting them as they gradually find ways to integrate loss while continuing to live meaningful lives.
