LCSW, 15 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, I'm Amber (she/her)! I have over 15 years of experience supporting individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges. Combining my professional knowledge with lived experience, I strive to create a therapeutic space that is compassionate, relatable, and free from judgement. I believe that the greatest beauty in a person lies in their true, authentic self. As a therapist, I am committed to cultivating an environment that nurtures and encourages authenticity. There is no such thing as a perfect problem. I view therapy as a process of self-exploration and personal growth. I do not believe that individuals are broken, and therefore, I reject the notion that therapy is about “fixing” people. I am committed to supporting individuals and families in addressing the impact of substance use and mental health, and navigating the complexities of recovery, and developing healthy boundaries that promote long term well being.
During your first session with me, I will want to know the reasons you chosen to begin therapy and to understand why now feels like the right time to take this step.
I acknowledge the complex and multifaceted factors influencing an individual’s experience with mental health and substance use challenges, and I always utilize a trauma-informed approach. I prioritize creating a therapeutic environment grounded in empathy and compassion. My practice is dedicated to honoring each persons unique experiences and promoting healing through evidence-based, individualized care.
Adults with substance use and co-occuring mental health challenges as well as individuals who have a loved one with addiction and/or mental health challenges.
I use motivational interviewing to help clients come to their own conclusions and solutions by creating a safe and trusting space for them to explore their own values and goals.
I utilize CBT by helping patients challenge and reframe unhelpful thoughts that lead to maladative behaviors.
Trauma focused CBT is useful when addressing the complex relationship between trauma and substance use. Many of my clients present with co-occurring disorders, where unresolved trauma significantly contributes to the development or perpetuation of their addiction.
