(she/her)
Welcome! I'm Darean, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Virginia. I have been in practice for about 8 years. I've worked in numerous settings to include: domestic and sexual violence, addictions, crisis, child and family, and career counseling, with clients of diverse backgrounds. My career journey has provided me knowledge and experience in tailoring treatment to help clients navigating a variety of challenges feel empowered in their healing.
In our first session together, you can expect a safe, non-judgmental space where your full-self is welcomed. We'll start with brief introductions, dive into the specific challenges you're facing, and it may be important to review any assessments that you've completed in the intake process. This will help me create a treatment plan to help achieve your desired outcome.
I will create a safe, grounded, and emotionally honest space for clients to feel seen, heard, and respected. I am attuned to the unspoken layers of my client's experiences, allowing me to gently hold space for pain while also guiding clients toward insight, clarity, and healing. I honor each person's unique journey without forcing timeline or agenda. I approach therapy with empathy, depth, adaptability, and always meeting clients where they are.
Although I work with a variety of issues, I love to work with women, 18 and older, who may feel isolated in their healing, who have experienced loss, complex relationships, struggling with depression, anxiety, the unbearable weight of trauma, or navigating life challenges. If you are feeling overwhelmed by emotional pain that feels hard to put into words - you're not alone. My approach is gentle, supportive, and collaborative - always honoring your story and your pace. My client's are open to feedback, eager, and willing to take steps toward growth.
In my practice, I primarily operate from a humanistic, person-centered foundation, which means I view therapeutic relationship as central to healing. I believe that each client holds within themselves the capacity for growth, insight, and change. My role is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. While I anchor my approach in Person Centered principles such as empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity, I am also an eclectic therapist. This means that I tailor my interventions to fit each client's unique needs incorporating other evidence based modalities when appropriate or necessary. This allows me to honor the clients individuality while still utilizing tools from various therapeutic models such as the use of DBT, IFS, CBT, Trauma-informed care, Mindfulness and more. At the core of every session is my belief that healing happens best in a space where the client feels emotionally safe, empowered, and supported.
