(she/her)
Hi, I’m LaShaunna LeSure, a licensed clinical therapist who specializes in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and the lasting impact of childhood trauma. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts, or like you’re constantly “on edge,” you’re not alone. Anxiety, depression, and the weight of past experiences can make even the simplest parts of life feel exhausting. Maybe your mind won’t slow down, you’re carrying a heaviness you can’t quite explain, or you find yourself reacting in ways that don’t match who you want to be. Whatever brought you here, it matters—and you deserve a space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment.
In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming environment where we move at your pace. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or to share more than you’re comfortable with. We’ll spend time getting to know what’s been going on in your life, what you’re hoping to change, and what support looks like for you. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, and together we’ll begin to identify goals that feel meaningful and realistic.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, genuine connection where you can be fully yourself. I strive to balance compassion with practical tools, helping you not only feel understood but also empowered. Whether we’re exploring the impact of childhood experiences, working through anxious thought patterns, or finding ways to manage daily stress, I aim to meet you with empathy while gently guiding you toward growth and healing.
I’m best positioned to support individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the lasting effects of childhood trauma. If you often feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward—but are open to exploring your experiences and building new ways of coping—we may be a good fit. My goal is to walk alongside you as you gain clarity, build resilience, and create a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that focuses on how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. In sessions, I help you identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop practical strategies to shift them, manage emotions, and respond to challenges more effectively. I often use CBT with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, life stressors, and the impact of past experiences, especially when negative thinking or feeling “stuck” is getting in the way of daily life.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I also use Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is designed to help individuals process and heal from past traumatic experiences in a safe, structured way. In sessions, I support you in understanding how trauma may be affecting your thoughts, emotions, and reactions, while gradually building coping skills to manage distress. As we move forward, we may gently process parts of your story at a pace that feels comfortable for you, helping reduce the emotional intensity connected to those experiences. I typically use TF-CBT with clients who have experienced childhood trauma, difficult past events, or ongoing emotional triggers that continue to impact their daily life and relationships.
Christian Counseling
Per clients request, I offer Christian counseling integrating faith-based principles into the therapeutic process when it is meaningful to you. In sessions, I may incorporate, scripture, and Christian values alongside evidence-based approaches to support healing and growth. I typically use this approach with clients who want their faith to be part of their mental health journey and are seeking support that aligns with their spiritual beliefs.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which focuses on helping you manage intense emotions, reduce stress, and improve relationships. In sessions, I teach practical skills like mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and effective communication so you can respond to challenges in a more balanced way. I often use DBT with clients who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, experience mood swings, struggle with relationships, or have difficulty coping with stress in the moment.
