LCSW, 22 years of experience
I have provided therapy for the past twenty years with clients who identify as LGBTQAI+. During these critical times my exclusive focus is treating the LGBTQAI+ community and a special compassion for transgender people. I treat adults within the LGBTQAI+ who suffer from depression and anxiety; PTSD and Complex PTSD, ASD, ADHD and other forms of trauma; co dependency, coming out and transitioning, relationships and family issues. I also specialize in the treatment of Dissociative Disorders. My main modalities are EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), trauma-informed therapies, internal family systems informed therapy, and psychodynamically informed psychotherapy. I find re processing of trauma (EMDR) and internal work (IFS) most effective of therapies for deep healing work of trauma, which involves working with parts of self. I provide individual therapy for adults age 18 to 64. I also support and am familiar with 12 step recovery.
In our first session, I will complete an initial intake with the expectation of building rapport, discovering your strengths and challenges and having a focus for our following session. I use a laidback approach to help you feel comfortable talking with me.
I believe my biggest strengths are my compassion, non judgmental listening, active involvement, extensive knowledge of trauma and trauma informed therapies. I believe I know what motivates people to change and what help them live from their authentic Self. I use parts work to help heal the Wounded Self. Note: I do not provide substance abuse treatment, but will work together with another provider if a client is already in treatment for S.A.
