About me

Hi! I'm a licensed Clinical Psychologist based out of Montana with licenses in Florida and Montana. I have 12 years of experience working with adults and groups. I have 7 years of experience working with a bariatric population. I work with adults who want to learn how to use nutrition and physical activity to improve their physical and mental well-being. I also use evidence-based therapies and techniques and teach my clients how to use these same techniques to improve their lives!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session together, I get to know you and we figure out together what goals you want to work on. Then, I'm able to put together an individualized plan of how to help you meet your goals. We go over the treatment plan together and if there's anything you want to change, we change it to fit your needs. Your treatment plan will feel realistic and like something you'll be able to do!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have worked with clients for over 7 years to help them meet their physical health goals while also improving their mental health. During that time, I developed and used techniques that assisted my clients in not only meeting their goals, BUT learning how to continue those behaviors to maintain what they achieve! I do not believe in "extremes" to help people with weight loss or physical health goals! I help clients achieve and MAINTAIN their goals! I enjoy working with women who want to improve their physical as well as mental health. Many women start to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and experience weight gain as they enter their 30's, 40's, and on. They don't know where to get started to improve their physical health and this leads to feelings of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and body image issues. They have tried diets, personal trainers, exercise programs/gyms, dietitians, etc. and feel that they've failed. I work WITH your personal trainers, dietitians/nutritionists, medical doctors, to assist you and them with meeting your goals!

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This therapy helps clients accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, and move forward through difficult emotions. I teach clients mindfulness skills to help them handle private experiences such as thoughts, feelings, sensations, urges, and memories. This also helps clients to move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This therapy helps clients to think about how situations can affect their feelings and behaviors, and that negative thoughts and feelings can create a negative cycle. I teach techniques from this type of therapy to help the client learn how to decrease when negative feelings are leading to negative behaviors.

Mind-body approach

We will use different techniques (meditation, guided imagery, other relaxation techniques) to assist you, the client, in learning how your thoughts and feelings are impacting your body. These techniques will assist the client in improving their ability to relax and improve overall health and well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

You are your own best expert! I use motivational interviewing techniques to assist you with understanding not only your goals, but what it is you are "willing" to change in order to meet those goals. We then work together, to help you make goals that are realistic and doable!

Psychoeducation

I will provide education and handouts related to the impact of lifestyle modifications regarding nutrition and physical activity. Additionally, you will learn how to make small, consistent changes that will improve your physical and mental well-being.
