As a therapist, I aim to create a safe and warm environment that allows each individual to deepen self-understanding and achieve their goals in therapy. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration between therapist and client to work toward change. It is my goal to walk alongside clients as they navigate the delicate balance of acceptance and change in their lives. I have experience working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and relationship stressors. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I consider myself to be eclectic in my therapeutic approach by utilizing techniques from different modalities to meet each client’s individual needs. I have training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and The Gottman Method for couple's counseling. I am also a certified Symbis Facilitator for pre-martial counseling. I look forward to connecting with you as you take this next step.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will spend time exploring challenges that have prompted you to seek counseling at this juncture in your life. We will work together to solidify your goals and expectations for therapy. At the end of the first session, you should have a good idea of my therapeutic approach and if we will be a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship is an essential component in creating change. Within the therapeutic relationship, I aim to create a validating environment while offering direct feedback. My goal is to help you make the changes necessary to live a happy and whole life.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidenced based practice for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and substance use. DBT consists of four skill modules: emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. I utilize a combination of all skill modules in my practice to help clients solve problems, process emotions, and ultimately build a life worth living.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

As a therapist, I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is essential in achieving your therapy goals. I aim to create a safe, trusting, and open relationship where clients are able to explore and process life stressors while deepening their understanding of their inner world.

Eclectic

While I have training in specific treatment methods, I utilize an eclectic approach in my practice. I do not believe in the one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and believe in the importance of utilizing different modes of treatment depending on the goals and preferences of each individual.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Emotion Focused Therapy utilizes a compassionate, non-judgmental, inquisitive approach to assist clients in increasing acceptance, understanding, and awareness of their emotions. EFT can be helpful for those experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or difficulties regulating mood/emotion. EFT aims to increase awareness and understanding of emotions with the goal of increasing the use of helpful emotions in guiding behavior.
