I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 35 yrs experience. I graduated from Boston College with a master's degree in counseling psychology. I have worked in a variety of settings including working in community mental health with adults and children as well as inpatient hospitals and DCF assessments. I believe in empowering clients with the tools and strategies necessary to achieve a productive and fulfilling life.
In our first session together, we will discuss the process of therapy, the issues bringing you to therapy, explore your present coping strategies and begin discussing treatment goals.
I have worked as a therapist for over 35 yrs and have diverse experiences that have enabled me to create specific treatment strategies for the many challenges clients face. I also have utilized this knowledge and experience to provide the best therapy outcomes.
I love working adults and adolescents who due to trauma, abuse and/or poor choices find themselves struggling to find purpose and how to navigate life. I have extensive experience treating mood disorders, PTSD, anxiety and family issues.
I incorporate CBT into my practice by helping clients understand the connection between thoughts-feelings-behavior and how to work on changing your inner core beliefs to facilitate changes in feelings and behaviors. I have been utilizing CBT for over 30 years and view this modality as the most effective to enact positive and long-lasting changes. This method helps with reoccurring thoughts and managing anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We then utilize that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
In conjunction with CBT this method works well with trauma and involves similar techniques to enable the client to view, think and feel differently about their experiences.
