Chandra Hulcher
Hello! I am a LCSW in the state of Virginia. My goal as a therapist is to build a therapeutic alliance and create a safe, supportive space to explore current life issues, process past traumatic experiences, and offer guidance in the healing process. My hope is to help you achieve your own goals for lasting wellness. My specialty is in trauma and PTSD. I offer EMDR therapy by telehealth to process distressing life experiences and help you get "unstuck" from the past. I also offer Cognitive Processing therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.
First session
During our first session, we will complete a psychosocial assessment that will help me understand your history and current clinical goals. I will ask questions about your childhood, mental health history, medical history, and current issues. This is also a time for us to get to know each other and build rapport.
Strengths
I have been practicing as a licensed clinician since 2006. I have extensive experience working with various types of trauma, including childhood trauma, sexual trauma, IPV, and combat trauma. Additionally, I have years of experience working with clients with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and family issues. I am compassionate and tailor my approach to each individual client based on their specific needs.
Ideal clients
I have been working with military veterans for the past 15 years. I consider it an honor to work with veterans and other adults who have experienced trauma or other loss. I enjoy working with adults who struggle with difficult family dynamics, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD.
Treatment methods
EMDR
I was trained in EMDR in 2006. I have used EMDR in person and through telehealth for treatment of various types of traumas. EMDR is an evidence based treatment for PTSD and other mental health conditions.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I am certified in CPT. I use CPT with individuals and groups at the Richmond VA PTSD clinic.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma informed care involves treating a person holistically with focus on building skills to cope with the effects of trauma on the mind and body.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)
CBT-I is an effective short term treatment for insomnia. I use it to help clients track their sleep patterns and make adjustments based on data from the client's sleep diaries.
