Hello!!! I am Edythe Bouldin, a licensed professional counselor in Virginia. I have been working in mental health for over 15 years and working as a therapist for more than 10 years. My Phd is in Family Interventions and Social work. One thing that sets me apart from other therapists, is my use of humor in sessions. I am here to help you to reach your goals and to support you on your therapy journey. I am a great listener and excited to meet and work with you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will work on building rapport and I will explain how I work and we will identify areas of concern and work on a treatment plan together. During our first session, I will listen to you as you identify goals and provide additional information on my background and how therapy works with my practice. I will share expectations and be open to you sharing expectations so we can decide if we think we are a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to listen and to provide a safe space with clients can express their feelings and work towards their goals. Another one of my strengths is my ability to use humor in sessions. I have had an opportunity to work with individuals from many different backgrounds and different circumstances.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My experience is working with individuals to help them identify, challenge and change thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behavior and emotions. I work with clients to identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and to address dysfunctional thoughts and replacing them with more positive thoughts.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Families and individuals that I have worked with children 3 -18 who have experienced difficulties after trauma exposure such as sexual abuse, exposure to violence, other traumatic experiences or a natural disaster. TF-CBT is used in my practice to help individuals learn coping skills and use cognitive restructuring (changing thought patterns) that are specific to the traumatic experience.

Family Therapy

Over 10 years experience working with family therapy using a systems approach to work with the entire family system.
