Hello there! My name is Scott. If you are feeling, anxious, depressed, or distressed; if your relationships are struggling or out of balance; if your past is showing up in the present; if you are giving way too much; if your emotions are all over the place; if self-medicating has you numbed out; if your self care is suffering or nonexistent …I am here to help. I provide judgment-free, care to individuals, couples and families in need of a safe, relational space to heal, grow and move beyond the “same ol’, same olds” way of life. Together we will figure out an action plan for creating the life and relationships you want.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Whether it is you, or you and your partner, or you and your family, I will join with you, gather information and help assess your situation. Then we will begin a process of prioritizing what is important to start addressing. We will co-construct goals and get to work. Sometimes that work includes intentional problem solving. Sometimes it involves experiential work. Sometimes it includes clarifying what you want and don’t want and developing communication skills to address these. Therapy can take on any shape that is needed in order to meet your needs. There will be times when I guide you. At other times I’ll just be a focused and empathic listener. You will be treated with the kindness and compassion you deserve. You will learn a lot as you grow and heal through this process.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

The main contributor to success in therapy begins with the relationship you build with your clinician. This relationship will be the foundation for using a range of helping strategies. I integrate a mix of ways that will be tailored to meet your needs. Having decades of experience, I am well versed in many therapeutic approaches and will recommend courses of action to assist you in your growth and healing. Some of these approaches are brief and focused on solution building here and now. Other approaches include challenging automatic negative thoughts. Still others will deal with backlogged emotions and historical trauma. Some will include systemic thinking to get to the roots of your problems. Others will be about changing behaviors to interrupt dysfunctional patterns of relating.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The biggest strengths I offer in therapy include helping people with relationship issues, self esteem issues, codependence and other addictive patterns. When it comes to relationships, these include relationships with self, partners and families. Relationships can also include other people, organizational environments and life purposes. When it comes to self esteem, I help people regain confidence in their strengths and abilities, implement healthy self care strategies and to put imposter syndrome to rest. When it comes to codependence and other addictive patterns, I help people see how such patterns emerge as attempts to find ways to cope with emotional, relational, existential and spiritual pain. I am also able to help people reclaim what they lost while in those painful patterns.
