LPC, 22 years of experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in Pennsylvania. I have experience working in the field of mental health and behavioral health since 2003. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, addiction issues, and other mental health/behavioral health issues. I also helped people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I consider myself an eclectic psychotherapist. I believe that no one individual is the same as another, therefore treatment should be personalized. Based on where the individual is at and their goals for life and goals for therapy will determine what technique I will use. Techniques may change from session to session. Some techniques I use include, but not limited to, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy. People seek therapy for a variety of reasons and seek therapy at different stages in their lives. My therapeutic approach begins with meeting the individual where he/she is currently. Each person and their situation are unique which is why I am a strong believer that person centered is the best approach as therapy is not one size fits all. I value developing a therapeutic relationship with each individual that I provide services. My goal is to allow the individual to feel comfortable in each session as a result of me offering respect and empathy, being able to accept, and being genuine and authentic. In return I ask that each person is committed to the process and honest throughout. Taking the steps to seek therapy is the first step to seeking change. If you’re ready to take that step, I am here to guide and support you.
In our first session together, my goal is to create a comfortable and supportive space where you feel heard and understood. We’ll take time to talk about what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and discuss what you hope to get out of our work together. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background and current challenges, and I’ll also share how I approach therapy so you know what to expect. Most importantly, the first session is about beginning to build a trusting relationship where you feel safe to be yourself.
My biggest strength is active listening. I take the time to listen to you so I am able to be genuine in offering guidance specific to your needs. I do not just see this work as a job, I genuinely care for each person who comes across my path and it is always my goal to help you develop your goals, help you reach your own goals, and support you in the process.
I work with clients looking for assistance in the following areas: Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Grief & Loss, Anger Management, Workplace Stress, Christian Therapy, Major Life Transitions, and Substance Abuse.
Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients build awareness of their thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and develop practical strategies to move toward their goals.
I integrate Motivational Interviewing to enhance readiness for change by helping clients clarify their values, goals, and ambivalence.

I wanted someone of the same race to be my therapist because it's easier to talk to someone who understands a similar plight as a black person in America. After all, there's more kinship and understanding of how life works for people like us. Ms. Monique is kind and more solution-oriented; she genuinely wants to help people little by little, as best she can, and work with them. I look forward to seeing her in our future sessions.

Monique is great at hearing what problems are going on and working to actually get to the root of them, to find a solution forward. It can be a conversation over multiple sessions, or a topic that was brought up once and then not again for months, but she is always on top of what can be done to improve the situation or difficulty. I always leave a session feeling a sense of being able to work towards being and feeling better.
