Hi! I’m Stasia Timan, LMHC, and I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I have experience supporting clients with a range of mental health challenges, such as anxiety, ADHD, depression, OCD, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment tailored to each client’s needs. I emphasize using developmentally appropriate, evidence-based techniques to help clients build coping skills, process thoughts and emotions, and cultivate resilience. I am particularly passionate about using play as a therapeutic tool to help younger clients express themselves and navigate challenges in a meaningful way. Through play, children can process emotions, resolve conflicts, and develop coping skills in a safe environment. In my sessions with adults, I utilize various evidence-based techniques, like CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. We will focus on exploring coping skills that work for you and work together to process emotions and gain helpful insights. I enjoy finding creative ways to engage clients and focus on individualized treatment. My approach is personalized, focusing on strengths and unique needs, empowering clients to develop their own coping strategies.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to identify and label unhelpful thinking patterns. By recognizing these patterns, clients can then implement targeted coping strategies to manage difficult emotions. Through this process, we work toward reframing unhelpful thoughts into more constructive and positive ways of thinking. We will work collaboratively to find coping strategies that work best for you.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

At the heart of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, it is where you feel validated, safe, and understood. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and therapy is a collaborative process that honors each individual’s inner strengths and wisdom. Person-centered therapy emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship and the safety of having a private space to openly explore your thoughts and feelings.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I will add aspects of DBT skills in treatment, focusing on distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and mindfulness.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

I have experience utilizing ERP to help clients reduce anxiety and manage OCD symptoms. This step-by-step approach involves gradually facing feared situations or thoughts while learning to build coping skills and resilience, empowering clients to manage anxiety.

Strength-Based

We will focus on your existing abilities and strengths to build empowerment and resilience. We all have unique strengths and areas for growth. Together, we’ll highlight your strengths and build on them as a path toward meaningful change.
