Hi There, I'm Gladys Mayes, LCSW, a psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples heal, grow, and reconnect with their purpose. I specialize in trauma-focused therapy, anxiety and stress-related disorders, relationship and communication challenges, in addition to, couples counseling using the Gottman framework. I have extensive experience working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My approach is warm, collaborative, and empowering. I believe therapy should feel like a safe conversation with someone who truly understands and supports you. I integrate evidence-based techniques with genuine connection, helping clients break unhelpful patterns, build emotional resilience, improve communication, and move forward with clarity and confidence. If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready to invest in your healing, I would be honored to partner with you on your journey.
Your first session with me is a welcoming and grounding experience focused on understanding you as a whole person, not just your symptoms. We'll take time to explore what brought you to therapy, what you've been carrying, and what you hope to gain from this process. I will ask thoughtful questions to learn about your goals, your history, and what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. I create space that feels safe, respectful, and judgement-free, a space where you can speak honestly at your own pace. There is no pressure to share more than you're ready for. Many clients say they feel a sense of relief and clarity after their first session because we begin turning confusion into direction.
What sets me apart as a therapist is my ability to blend clinical expertise with genuine human connection. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I take time to truly understand your story, your patterns, and your strengths so we can create real, lasting change, not just surface-level coping. I specialize in trauma recovery, emotional wellness, and relationship healing, using trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and evidence-based approach. My work integrates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, and the Gottman Method for couples. These proven methods allow us not only to explore your experiences, but also develop clear strategies that help you regain control over your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. If this approach resonates with you, I would be honored to support you on your healing journey. You don't have to do this alone change is possible, and it starts with one step.
My ideal clients are individuals and couples who are ready for change, even if they're not sure where to begin. They may feel overwhelmed by life, stuck in painful patterns, or disconnected from themselves or their relationships. Many of my clients are high functioning but silently struggling, carrying responsibilities, trauma, or emotional weight that others may not see. My clients value honesty, authenticity, and growth. They want a therapist who is real, supportive, and willing to guide, not just listen. If you are looking for a safe space to process your story, learn healthier emotional tools, improve your relationships, and move forward with clarity and confidence, I would be honored to support you.

Couples Counseling
I have been trained and certified in the Gottman Method with extensive experience utilizing this and other evidence-based practices to work with couples experiencing life stressors, disconnect, decreased intimacy, and seeking to strenghten their relationship.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT to help clients accept difficult emotions without being controlled by them. Through mindfulness and values-based action, I support clients in developing resilience, reducing emotional avoidance, and building a meaningful life aligned with their goals.
Attachment-based
I use an attachment-based approach to help clients understand how early relationships shape current emotional patterns and ways of connecting with others. By building a secure therapeutic relationship, I support healing from relational wounds, increasing emotional safety, and developing healthier, more secure connections.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate DBT skills to help clients manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress in healthy ways. Through practical tools like mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance, I support clients in building balance, stability, and emotional resilience.

For the past few months, Gladys has walked me through a difficult season of grief with warmness. She doesn't offer gimmicks or false realities, but empowers you to sit in the awareness of the situation and walks you through your emotions in each phase. I am thankful for her intelligent and direct approach.
