About me

Hello, I'm Kelly. I received my Master’s in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Thomas University in December 2021, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and adults, helping them navigate various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, ADHD, mood disorders and unresolved childhood trauma. My dedication lies in assisting clients struggling with mental illnesses to find a path forward, enabling them to discover purpose and fulfillment in their daily lives. My approach to therapy is both collaborative and supportive. I believe in creating a safe space that fosters open dialogue about coping skills and treatment techniques that will assist you in achieving your treatment goals. I draw from various theoretical frameworks such Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to tailor the best approach for your unique need. I am passionate about helping people be the best version of themselves. Providing warmth and empathy is at the core of my practice, and I strive to create a non-judgmental, safe space for you to process and heal. Together, we will work on building the skills and resilience needed to overcome life's challenges. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and making cherished memories. If you feel that we might be a good fit, I invite you to reach out. Let's embark on this journey towards healing and growth together.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. Together, we’ll explore your goals, current challenges, and what you hope to gain from our work. This time allows you to share as much—or as little—as you feel comfortable, while I gather background information to help tailor our sessions to your unique needs. You can expect a supportive and nonjudgmental space where we begin building a foundation of trust and collaboration. I’ll explain how therapy works, review confidentiality, and answer any questions you may have about the process or the different approaches I use in therapy. Depending on your comfort level, we may begin identifying specific patterns in your thoughts, emotions, or behaviors and discuss initial strategies or skills to help you manage current concerns. By the end of the session, we’ll work together to outline next steps and set realistic goals for your therapy journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a therapist lie in my ability to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel truly seen and understood. I strive to meet each person where they are while fostering a sense of safety that allows for honest exploration and growth. I integrate evidence based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and IFS to provide a flexible, individualized treatment experience. This allows me to help clients develop practical skills for managing emotions and behavior, while also guiding them toward deeper self awareness and acceptance. I’m skilled at balancing structure and empathy, offering tools for change while honoring each client’s pace and unique story.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

The ideal client is open to self-exploration and motivated to engage in the therapeutic process to create meaningful change. This individual may range from childhood through adulthood and presents with a desire to improve emotional regulation, self-awareness, interpersonal effectiveness, or coping with life’s challenges. Clients who benefit most from this approach are willing to engage in both reflective and skills-based work. They may be struggling with symptoms such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related distress, or difficulties in relationships, yet are open to learning new strategies to manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. This structured, goal-oriented approach empowers clients to develop healthier coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and make lasting behavioral changes.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a Person-Centered Therapy approach that emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This method focuses on creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based approach that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness principles. DBT helps clients learn practical skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce self-destructive or impulsive behaviors.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based approach that helps clients accept what is out of their control while committing to actions that align with their personal values. ACT focuses on increasing psychological flexibility — the ability to be present, open, and engaged in meaningful life experiences even in the face of challenges.
