I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10+ years working with a range of clients dealing with mental health and life issues. Life as we all know can be very challenging at times. I know this feeling all too well. I will be providing a safe space so that you can not only share your challenges but also to be yourself. I will be there to guide you through your journey of learning to overcome these challenges while developing healthy coping skills. I am here to help you to become the best version of yourself and if you are willing to do the work you will be proud of all the growth that you will achieve during this journey.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
For our first session we will discuss the goals you want to work on for therapy and then I will learn more about you so that I can tailor your therapy journey to support you.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength as a therapist is actively listening to your goals and challenging you in a supportive way to achieve these goals. My main modalities that I utilize in sessions are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I have completed training in trauma work. My therapeutic approach also include client centered and solutions focused therapy.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have experienced with working with clients that are dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, first generation (I am from the Caribbean), trauma, life transitions and just feeling stuck in life. I work with clients that want to make changes, even when the process takes time, it will all be worth it in the end.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is used to help client to focus on changing negative thoughts and behaviors. I will help you to recognize and describe the negative thoughts and behaviors that you are experiencing. We will then work on creating healthy coping skills to manage these thoughts and behaviors. It is important to understand that it is normal to thinking negatively but it can hold you back from reaching your potential. We will work on reframing your thoughts so that you can improve your mental health. This model is great for clients that are struggling with anxiety and depression.
Motivational Interviewing
I love using this modality because I am a big advocate on helping you to recognize that you can change your behavior and reframe your mindset without judgement. I will be able to help you to recognize that life comes in stages and that we go through them just like the seasons. I will help you to learn to be patient with yourself and give yourself grace.
